Snow thread 2013

Well just been for a drive to the gym and wow, people try and drive like its **** summer. Do people not appreciate the conditions? probably about 1% seem to get the message.

For example, revving the f*** out of it and then wondering why its wheel spinning. Jesus. Slow down, ease off carefully, move one bit at a time. But no, they just jump in and expect to move.

Also, junctions! people skidding all over place and going over the line. Brake earlier! I managed it with low profiles (which seem to be ****e).

Lastly, parking in stupid, stupid places! I.e. on a hill that is covered in snow/ice. But not parked up, texting! I can't stop and if something was going the other way, well you or me are gonna get hurt. Nutjobs! Everywhere.

Other than that, got a good laugh watching numerous people hit the barriers on a roundabout (which I navigated fine a few minutes later) and ploughs have done a good job near me!

(not saying im the DON at driving in snow, but a bit of common gets you miles!)

Couple of photos of our puppy having a play on the moors today :)

Well got into work fine, no issues tho the roads were covered. Manager comes up to me tonight and says, you have to go home now, I instantly think omg my partner's in hospital, my dads dead summat like that but no apparently our big boss who lives in same area as me had a nightmare going home and I should get out while I can.

Drove home with no issues, it was absolutely covered in the villiage, did spin the wheels once...but didn't even have to crack the socks out. Only problems I have is people in 4x4s who think because its covered in snow they should over take any normal car in front of them. Which was odd as I was doing 30 in a 30 as I was travelling by myself no hills about, so he ended up doing 45 on fresh snow to pass me. Hopefully he'll keep it up and discover 4wd doesn't help you stop your 2 ton tractor on ice..

Its funny when they do that behind me as i lead them into a false sense of security .. small lightish punto evo with winter tyres can easily out turn a 2 tonne top heavy tank in the twisty stuff at the best of times let alone when the ground is snow covered... I had one car come off the road behind me a few years ago..... his response was well you made it round at that speed......

I REALLY pissed off a 2 ton tractor a few years ago in slushy conditions on my winter tyres. I ended up letting him past as he was starting to try and overtake when there was oncoming traffic.

P.S It works even better with an even lighter 500 :D

Makes me laugh the drama of it all. You should get winter tyres this and that etc. I've just done 125miles round trip today in my summer tyres (albeit newish with lots of tread) with no drama at all.

54 mile trip to and from work today 3 inches of snow on the roads at 5am not cleared or gritted (to any effect anyway) summer tyres no drama or wheel spinning even over took a lorry at one point

My neighbours car...

Heard an arguement between him and his OH this morning...well bits of it, she was saying "if only you'd bought winter tyres this would never have happened"....although I may have misheard :p

Aye if you believe the hype in the winter tyre thread's she'd be right :ROFLMAO:. The car would also not only clean itself but also fill it's own fuel tank.

She may have went on to say that she should be going out with his brother...he has winter tyres and understands what a woman needs...

She then may have yelled I'm leaving...then took another look at the car and and added in 5 days time.

Cautionary tale this one and also utter b******s

i keep seeing cars drive around with that much snow on the roof, they have no idea whats going to happen if they have to brake quick

These have been Dubbed 'Igloo Cars' by the AA and the press apparently they are being condemned as being responsible for a large number of accidents in the last week or so, according to the AA this bout of snow has seen 7,000 cars taken off the road by accidents

Thing is people cant be bothered - but the rozzers can actually ticket you for it
Not only for not clearing you car of the snow
but since you have the potential to create a serious hazard

Yet - afro cars i see loads!

I kept mine thin - when it was loose enough from car been warm inside - i pushed it off in big lumps in the local supermarket car park :D

Last Monday, after the initial flurry, I saw many cars driving along - it looked as though their HG had gone & coolant was pouring into the engine - huge, thick clouds of white billowing out behind them.

Then we get the snow days - and the number of muppets who cba to even clear the snow off their glass is unbelievable - and I have yet to see any of these pulled over by police.
I followed a guy the other day - snow on the roof & icy smears across his screen. He obviously couldn't see out properly.:tosser:

i followed a red bmw, he had cleared front screen with wipers only, think snow on all other windows including the front sides, he entered many roundabouts only luck and other drivers spotting he was a tit prevented him having an accident
