I didn't hear about this until this morning when I turned the radio on. It's very sad news. Richard Hammond makes Top Gear what it is, I hope he pulls through. According to the newspapers this morning they had to dig his head out of the soil, I hope he has no neck/spine injuries... Best wishes to him.

Apparently as he was drifting in and out of consciousness he said he had pain in his lower back, not sure if this is good or bad but thought it can't be too bad if he has feeling?

Thought there may have been more updates on the news but i suppose its early days yet

thanks for the link jai. Good to hear he is now in a stable condition. Lets hope he continues to improve over the next few days. Good to see that the hospital have released only information they have been instructed to and are respectin his family at this time. Good luck for the recovery

yeah i think that was on the article, remember readin it somewhere. Wish people could realise that issues like this are sensitive and on a public forum you need to be courteous. Jai posted the link so people can read the facts as they stand.

never said they didnt, but if this accident can raise some money for a charity which normally wouldnt have recieved over £1500 for an hours fundraising, then i think its worthwhile.

Theres a million worthy causes, but each one needs the spotlight every now and again. if you get what i mean...

Apparently, he was slowing down and the car veered off the runway onto the grass verge, rolled several times then buried itself halfway into the ground. Firecrews had to cut him out while he was unconcious but said he was drifting in and out of conciousness all the way to hospital.
Oh, and i wouldnt say it was a silly stunt, he was attempting to break the British land speed record.
Hes now made it through the night and is still critical but stable so i would imagine he should make it

well you always need a Guineapig to test things out seeing as they dont have one on the show i suppose a Hamster is the next best thing.

Terrible news to hear this but its good to hear he is stable.

accidents are always going to happen when your pushing the boundries or doing things that are extreme, but i have a feeling the men in bubble rap suits will get scared by this and wont allow topgear to do such outrageous stunts. that would be a shame.

One of the red-tops claims that a tyre burst as he was slowing down, causing the accident, which is what Sky News is also reporting now, though investigations have barely begun, so it'd be silly to specuate too mcuh at this stage.
