Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
Congrats mate. Sounds nice!

Long way to go tidying up, but the hard parts done :D

Whats up with all the smoke though? Buring oil or just rich?

Well its running no lamba at the min, so runing rich until i trace the wire i need to earth out in the loom...

The oil is watery as its running engine flush in that vid (which shouldnt effect it unless i have some dodgy seals somewhere)... although it's the first time its ran properly since being stood, flooded..

HOPEFULLY... when i get the fresh oil in and the car together, a good blast down the motorway should clear it all out.... (just an excuse really for a good blast)

Have fun when you go for the plast then, sure you will :slayer:  :D Just don't stack it! :D

Haha il have a quick blast down the motorway to clear her, then sensible driving from then on...
Il keep checking the car over for the first few weeks for anything thats moved or shaken loose due to the solid mounts....

Although thinking about it, im not running a cat converter, it only has the one silencer, also its running uprated 3bar fuel injectors... so i bet it will smoke a bit as it was only revving on the drive...

that is looking/sounding stunning mate truly something to be very proud of. my mate has got the same engine as you in his corsa and that doesnt run with lamba and he's got it mapped to run good like that and its fast like does run rough at first but once its heated up its perfect. you should look into getting vxr injectors and theres in a place in dunfermline, scotland called "trix" they make a great throttle body for them engines.

cheers gregor

It is really good to see an ambitious project seen through, well done!

It will be interesting to hear how it actually goes on the road, my guess is you will need a change of underwear by the time you get back home

I suppose the nest thing is what do you call the thing it is it a Fauxall or a Viat?

Cheers,, undecided on the name yet lol.. having fuel issues (for the second time haha) so thats keeping me very busy at the min

Bloody things really causing me problems...

I know its a vaux engine, but in theory all engines are relatively the same...

Im having big over fuelling problems... (as in ive used £10 over 3 days on the driveway lol).

The engine runs, but overfuels, meaning when i come to re crank the engine, it cranks but wont fire, due to it being flooded.

I think at the moment it could be the coolant temp sensor as this adjusts the choke etc... but as no where is open till tuesday i thought id see if anyone had any ideas...

So far ive replaced the fuel pump 3 times, thinking that they are too powerful and forcing fuel past the injectors....

Ive replaced the injector rail, injectors and fuel pressure rail for a lower version.. (was running a 3.bar set up, and now reduced it down to the standard 2.5bar)...

Ive replaced the plugs, leads, dizzy cap & arm due to a poor spark, but this hasnt ignited any more fuel.

I have a problem with a lambda sensor (basically not having one) but that shouldnt make the engine overfuel as it does... and wouldnt effect idle.

And ive swapped the MAF sensor with a known working one (the correct was around).

Ive replaced the standard airbox set up incase there wasnt enough air going through the induction kit....

Nothings helped!!

The engine was working prior to me having it, so i think the timings fine...

Any other ideas?

remove the sensor and check it with a multimeter. they rarely fail. might even be the same as the fiat one?

you cant go to high on a pump. the fuel pressure regulator will always regulate it to the right pressure.

Its a different sensor as i had a quick look at the fiat one :(

The only other things i can think off other than the dreaded timing, is ecu or wiring fault somewhere within the engine loom....

terry. couple of tips
1. dont let scott near it lol
2. have a rest day tommorow (i already know your answer to that " its gotta be ready for sunday and ive still got loads to do how can i take a break!!!!!") but you could do with one- youve worked non stop on it
3 i dont think its the loom, its been tested and re tested a million times
4 i rekon ecu tbh
definatly not dodgy injectors sticking open?
ill pop over tomoz and have a peek with ya mate, we can always break into rowleys for anything we need ;)
o, still need some laquer??

o and guys, just to say.
ive watched this project from the sidelines, got stuck in a bit, but witnessed the whole thing, and although its far from complete, ive never seen so much effort go into making a seicento go fast. massive props to you mate.(y)

Heres another update lol...

As someof you well know ive been frantically running around trying to get the car to work before trax, as im not intending on towing it down lol.....

Its been overfueling and is barely drivable at the moment due to this...

Ive managed to pick up a CTS sensor for £12 new, and ive finally managed to get hold of a loom and ECU which i will be picking up tomorrow :D:D:D:D:D

While ive not been able to do anything mechanically, ive been messing around with the shell of the car, removing scratches, removing the orange side bits, tinting the last of the windows, repainting the rocker cover as it got damaged, and random bits and bobs...

Heres a few pics of how she looks now... Just got the painted spoiler to fit, track down some small red reflectors to make the rear legal and then finally paint and fit my abarth skirts :D
