Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
Hopefully the bumper won't get a bit melty... ;)

Is the beam from that headlight ok, does it look like you've cut a load out but it's really a little bit and you've matted the whole thing to make it stronger?

Maybe paint the inside of them black like Cinq sporting light units as a finishing touch, if you can be bothered with popping the lenses off - only the housing mind, not the reflector :p

Again, nice to see your project still going :)

The fibreglass matting is stronger than the rest of the plastic, so thats alright. As for the beam we have yet to test it as im missing one of them small clips that clips into the bodywork and then you push the headlight into, so its a bit moveable at the moment. Will get round to that when i can find a clip :S

As for the smoked headlights, they look pretty cool. I done a set previously to a VW lupo i owned, and it looked great... So think i will be doing this to mine down the line when i have some more time :D

The bumper should be alright as there is a small gap between the rad and bumper now, after saying hello to the bumper with the angle grinder...

could get some mk2 punto sporting alloys, will still look stealthy then ;)
some of these:

pretty sure they are 15's, i'm not up on puntos

Yea they are 15's as i used to have them on a fiat punto i owned. I like the wheel, but i think im sold on the MG ones... Heres a pic of the wheels i want... (just need to get the cash for them and the tyres as just the tyres are around £65 per corner)

Right then... heres another update....

The car is finally RUNNING!!!

There has been so many problems recently with regards to running problems...

The engine refused to work... Firstly it was down to a fuel pump relay that was faulty.. I made a new one using two relays and a few diodes which kicked the fuel pump into action.

We realised the ICV was venting to air, and it shouldnt be... so we couldnt get the car to idle.... it ran then cut off like it was imobilised.. So after adapting the air intake to incorporate the ICV tube, it idled for the first time.. but roughly..

We then had a problem with out MGF '5bar' fuel pump... it didnt have enough presure for our engine, and then that eventually gave up ghost... so that was removed, and replaced with a 2.5 V6 vauxhall vectra fuel pump..

We removed all the water from the cylinders and gave the engine a run... we ran it without the pump on (as ive wired in an immob key) and the engine fired up and ran itself... then when turning the key to put the pump back into action, the car was seriously overfuling....

I finally relised the problem this morning.... took around 15 mins to fix, and now the engine runs sweet as a nut :D

The MAF/AFM on these engines usually sits on the drivers side of the throttle plate, but in our fiat there isnt enough room to have it in the standard place, so it sits on the opposite side. As the MAF/AFM was moved over, it meant the air flowing through was flowing in the incorrect way for the sensor... Giving a signal to the fuel pump relay which was wrong, and running the fuel pump when it wasnt needed, flooding the cylinders. After spinning the MAF/AFM round, and cranking her over, the car idles perfectly, and revs brilliantly... (thanks to a light flywheel)....

Cant wait to take the car for a spin...

Just need to bleed the coolant system, adjust the gear selector, and fill with its 3rd change of oil/filter.... Id do it today, but its raining, and the wind has removed our gazebo against our will lol...

Ive took a video, but as it has the car's reg in im not going to post it up.... il get a short vid posted as soon as the rain clears.

I'm really loving how quickly this is coming along and can't wait to see it finished, my only disappointment throughout this (though I can see your reasoning) is that it's not a FIAT powerplant...

Lol cheers.. to be honest i dont know much about the fiat engines... I would have had a 1.4 turbo if i could have got hold of one at the time... i did look but there wasnt much about including spares...

So gone down the vauxhall route.... The bits are cheap, i know the engines, and at the end of the day its still in a fiat lol :D

Think the project has taken 6 weeks.... so not too bad...

I cant wait to get it fully finished, but as its running im going to slow down a tad with things, as when it goes to trax, it will still be a work in progress... although a drivable work in progress lol.

Heres the long awaited video haha... (had to register a damn youtube account to get it hosted...)

Anyways its a tad smokey due to the known over fuelling problem i had, and the fact i need to earth a lamba connection out in the loom as there is no lamba fitted... (its a common thing done on these engines as a lot of the manifolds dont come with the lamba fitting on)

And my exhaust is full of rain water.... basically the car needs a good drive down the motorway to clear it all...

Enough of the excuses, and heres the video...

well throw any stealth ideas out of the window with that noise ;)

EDIT: Just noticed theres quite a big hole between the engine bay and cabin... is this for a reason lol

Oh theres a plate made to fit in that space tomorrow. Its where the heater matrix was, but due to running the wiring loom through the pannel and the water pipes, its been left open. Will be sorted by tomorrow haha...
