Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
what did you do to get it on the road legally as its time for my mates corsa red top to get on the road but dont know where to start i noticed you said earlier you got an engineers report and there is a place near me that can do one but how does it work with the emissions having a straight through exhaust and running no lamba sensor. basically the car is road ready just need to know where to start to get it road legal.

cheers gregor

You need to get an engineers report for both your insurance and also the dvla.
You need the engine number from the donor engine for the logbook, and fill it out with the correct engine size CC and also engine number etc. Send that along with a copy of the engineers report, and the book will come back updated.

The MOT depends on the engine (with regards to emissions) so aslong as you can prove the engine is pre cat/lambda then you wont have any problems with getting it through, as they wont be checking the emissions against the original engine.

If the engine is a newer engine that usually has the cat or lambda then you will need it fitted.

Im so chuffed this car is on the road and its not even my car :D Big credit to you mate, well done! (y)

lol cheers... sorted the linkage out today (i think) but have a problem i need to sort out tomorrow, or i wont be able to get it to trax.... (seriously gutted if i cant get it there)...

Il get posting in the main page haha

Bit curious about this as it will affect my project when I get near to road time. When you say an engineers report, what engineer is this exactly and where do you find them? (I only have a spot light for calling batman, and I'm not sure the A-Team would write anything down...)
I was under the impression that if it was 'radically modified' then you needed to have an IVA (mucho wonga) which I'm guessing yours might be as its using a lot of vauxhall parts and you've had to cut a lot of the bodyshell to fit it. Now if there is a simpler and far less expensive route then I'm all ears. :D

You nee to tell DVLA of the changes. They may want an engineers report, or an inspection, but its not guaranteed.

Same with insurance. One company i tried did want one, all others weren't fussed.

Just do it, tell dvla and insurance, and see where you go from there.

Heres another update... as the engine is pretty much sorted (just needs a sensor) so now ive moved onto the interior...

Ive remade the dash to house the vauxhall digital dash, Tv screen, and two set of vibe SE component speakers (the bullet proof SE series speakers)...

There will be 4 tweeters in the dash, two midrange speakers also in the dash... then the door cards will hold the other set of mids...

I will then be fitting two 12" subs in the rear (yet to decide what.. possibly something VIBE)...

Also have a set of 6x9's to fit, and two amps... 1x 900w RMS mono amp, and another 400w peak amp... Will be running the components with the 400w, and the subs with the 900wrms amp...

I know the 6x9s will effect the 'soundstage' but i have them already, and i want the car show worthy, aswell as a daily driver... so they are being crammed in regardless lol... (plus i need something to drown the noise out from the fans lol)

Heres where i got to today....

I am waiting for the resin to dry before i can apply the matting...

shame i couldn't make it down to see this. very impressed it's all on the road and running well. interior is looking smart, suppose it doesnt matter how much weight you add to it.. not like it's going to be short on power.

Lol i wouldnt do it if i was you, (in the nicest possible way)... the whole thing has been a ball ache to do... I wont lie and say it isnt worth it in the end, but there is a hell of a lot of work to get it to work, and i wouldnt do another one!!

If you decide to do it, bare in mind the cost of the driveshafts and other stuff.. then budget for things going wrong... as a lot did for us lol...
