Seicento Monster Cento/ECU Master Thread

Introduction

Well starting this is well overdue although technically it's still just a car and a big pile of bits at the moment. It will come together quickly though as I have access to a commercial garage in the evenings and on weekends which belongs to a good friend. I'm lucky enough to have another good friend who is a self employed coded welder/fabricator and yet another good friend who owns a powder coating business. Myself, I do electronics so pretty much everything is covered. :D

I'm not going to go into minor details as most of it has been discussed before (especially the engine which was purchased from Gazzaman). However I will answer any questions and will go into detail with the DET 3 setup and installation as there are no UK guides I'm aware of for this.

So the car:

A 2000 SPI Seicento Abarth (probably manufactured late 1999) which replaces the silver Cinq (SPI Turbocharged) I have recently sold for restoration. The silver chap needed some TLC due to a bad repair from a rear collision before I purchased him. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I sold him on with the standard engine and pinched Mrs. Honeymonsters Sei after buying her a newer yellow ragtop replacement which I got a good deal on but wasn't really suitable for my project.

The planned spec is as follows, only thing I'm missing is the TB. Now Sorted (thanks Blu!)

I will just post some pictures of the bits for now and then intermittently as I fit them.

I do however need to keep this car mobile to park it back in my workshop so it will be done in big chunks.

Cheers
Judging from the types of errors it can only detect open or short circuit, but I am not sure and do not quote me on this :)

I think the engine swap is probably off for this weekend now. (n)

But....

Only because I just picked up this little beast for £150

DSC00683.JPG

Local garage had quoted the owner £1700 for a service, brakes, tyres and some other basic items so she decided to get rid.

2001 MPI Rag Top Sporting, Rust Free!! 55k on the clock needs disks, pads, full service, rocker gasket, bottom arms, track rod ends and a good valet.

I have all these parts lying around beleive it or not. :D

It seems it already has a brand new alternator and exhaust. (y)

A clean soft top one of these will go for at least 1k here. I've gone halfs on it with the chap who lets me use his garage to work on my car. We will be using his garage to get it sorted so it would be cheeky not to really.

Only downside is it will probably be getting it done this weekend instead of the engine swap. I should get some work done on the Monster though, we'll just have to see.

150 wow what a bargain, chuffin eck you could sell the wheels on there own for that.:)

Yeah he's a little racer, just pleased I saved him from the scrappy. I'd keep him for a project if he wasn't a soft top and I had space. Tis shocking what people dump over here and we don't have any breakers. Still if the "reputable" garage it was taken to hadn't been a bunch of :tosser: this would have never of happened. The quote was in the car for some of the parts fitted which included £95 for a handbrake cable it doesn't need, £660 for a steering rack it doesn't need (just needs track rod ends), £135 for rear shoes and cylinders it doesn't need... and it goes on and on until it reaches £1700 They only charged £30 to check it over so you can guarantee the never even took the drums off. It's a sad world we live in. I guess some people would have got it fixed (and ripped off)...

Still he'll be nice and shiny by Monday and the Monster project can resume. Also it will be great to get rid of some spares and have some money to put towards the Monsters insurance. (y)

Got given these today:

Might try doing somthing like this with them at some point. No time soon though far too much other stuff to do.

I don't think legally any modifications can be made to headlights though no matter how good and well adjusted they are. I'd prefer projectors, not really bothered about HID's (I know they need to be self leveling) just to make the front look a little less friendly. LOL

Meh the'll probably just gather dust in the monster cento parts cave somewhere.

Off some kind of BMW I think and would need to be modified since they are only single beam anyway. Seems a real popular mod in Poland shame our authorities are a little less tolerant.

Mate, I don't think you understand the nature of car tuning in PL :D The fact that something is popularly done does not make it legal. Several mods are illegal (most popular "crime" is too loud exhaust) and a handful of people go back home after the CentoZlot without their registration papers (y)

Yeah well just looking through here it seems like most people have a set:

http://centolovers.blogspot.com/2009/11/seicento-other-lights-hand-made-lights.html

What I really don't understand though is how they negotiate Polish roads with their cars so low. Having driven in Poland quite a few times I've noticed the average pot hole is the depth of a well. Lorries have worn grooves so deep in some places you can let go of the steering wheel and your car steers itself. Some of the new highways are great but how they can can drive on any of the old roads is beyond me. :D

Meh, a lot of them do look damn cool though. :yum:

The bottom line is that most of these are show cars. Quite often they actually make it to one show or another on a trailer. Some would also have adjustable height suspension. Apart from shows they either stand in the garage or drive around the block, a 1/4 mile race from time to time. But yes, this is also beyond me, mine is moderatetly lowered compared to most PL ones, and I have seen sparks in my rear window a few times.

With yout projector head lights , how do you plan on useing main beam ?

Only reson is I did it on my cinq , and i put two projectors in , One for dip and one for main beam ,, the main beam wasnt good, so i used HID`s in the main beam what made them a little better ... :)

Yup already mentioned this would be a problem with the units I was given, however not an issue with units like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Projector-Headlight-Combined-Dip-Main-Beam-Kitcar-Custom-Chop-Trike-Motorcycle-/320923114730?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4ab8821cea

However due to the leagality of having to run an emarked and tested/approved light, I will probably not do it at all. :(

Getting pulled over and having my car taken down the local traffic office is not a pastime I wish to participate in.

yep when i ran mine me and my dad made some clear lenses for them , If only them projectors in your link you just put up were cheeper , i would buy two sets .;)
I know what you mean about the Emarker . Were abouts are you from ?

The lights in my link are technically Emarked however as soon as you combine them with another light I reckon all that goes out the window. I'm in Jersey mate, we don't have an MOT but we do have the odd random road check which can end with a visit to the traffic office. They can be very picky about things like lights no matter how well they work. At the end of the day I doubt they would be happy about anything other than a complete unit constructed by a manufacturer.

I don't see how they could really kick off about the golf lights that have been modified to fit further down the page on this link though:

http://centolovers.blogspot.com/2009...de-lights.html

however not really keen on the look of them. Not quite sure how these guys have made the clear lenses for their modified lights either.

If I was going to do it I would be hoping for a factory type look like the Coco car (can't say I really like his interior though):

Coco.jpg

Anyway I'm just speculating it's way way down on the list of things I'm only interested in doing. I certainly don't want to fit anything that is obviously aftermarket. I'm not planing on changing much visually on the car at all.
