Punto (Mk2/2b) Budget Track Car Build Thread MK2 - Project SaladBoy

Introduction

This is a story that begins in October 2019

This started off as an idea for a stag do back in October 2019 between two of us , the aim was to make it to the Ring in 2020 and do some laps and **** off the stag with stupid pointless mods. The budget was set very low (sub £500) and it didn't take long for a complete bargain to come along. Full Dealer History 85,000 mk5 2 litre FSI miles for £50

That car had zero will to live and was scrapped for £300 in July 2021 , this was 2 days before a track day at Thruxton

So with a budget of £300 to £500 a new car was sought, the same day a Punto 1.4 16v was picked up as a spares/repairs from a local dealership. Knocked them down from £500 to £350 to take away that day.

1 bottle of gas and a new spool of wire later............Over a period of 5 days when i got the time.......... In total 6 patches were required, fibre glass was placed over to neaten up my unique welds and to seal everything in

As it was left over from the failed golf and because the car may be left sat after castle combe a power cut off switch was fitted. The mount was 3d printed to bring it up to an easier position to reach
