I mean when I'm serving them.;)

:p That's Chesterfield for ya!

Same thing applies really. It's just more efficient and it's the natural thing for them to talk to each other in their own language.

And yeah, Cesterfeldians call it a chip cob, so it is definitely a chip cob :D

It just seems really rude when they do that though.:(

I was really confused when I was at college and asked for a chip butty and was asked if I meant a chip cob, was like WTF!?

Exactly! And it has been happening for years. The government dont listen and so groups like edl begin to crop up.

I think my original comment rings true: "are we racist, or just fed up of the government bending over backwards to help anyone other than its own native people".

Iv been on the edl forum a while, and actually, a lot of muslim people do come on and ask how they can help rid of extremeists due to the government having no backbone.

It's nice in some respects, but is not publicised enough, and while this is true i think all ethnicities wilbe tarred with the same brush by racist individuals and groups in britiain

Is Britain racist?

According to the first post one in three people are racist; the rest didn't understand the question.

If a third of the British population is racist that makes them the minority so under European Law we have to give them a load of hand outs.

I personally don't think Britain being a multicultural society is an issue. It hasn't been for the last three thousand years or so so why now? The biggest problem is...

...it's happening people!

'the establishment' doesn't help - by not treating everyone the same they promote racism.
And some of the courses I have been forced to attend  seemingly, it is only racism if it is directed towards the Asian community.
I commented on a report in our local paper some time ago. Group of asian kids attacked a couple of white kids (gave them a right good kicking, left one needing a hospital stay. About a week previous, an asian kid was the subject of a "brutal racist attack" - a white kid grabbed him, demanded his mobile & when the asian kid refused, he got a thump by way of encouragement.
My comment was along the lines of a link to the other story & asked why the group of asian kids were not being pursued under the racism banner - seems the mods at the paper didn't like the truth so they deleted my posting.
asian shopkeeper parks his car in a bus bay - all day, every day, yet he has never got a ticket. 50 yards away I spotted a traffic warden walking up the high street so I pulled over to ask him if it was an offence to park on solid yellow lines in a bus bay - seemingly, it is - so why don't you ticket that car (pointing to the one in the bus bay) "it's not in my area". If the boundary for his area was marked by the main road crossing the high street then the bus bay is 15 yards away. According to the council, the warden was right not to ticket the car as it was outside his designated area. n old friend who works on the buses tells me they have complained no end of times about this car as it means they are unable to draw into the bay & so block the (very busy) main road.
Pay for a ticket to park legally for 5 hours while you go shopping, you overstay by 5 mins & get a fine (despite the free parking time being less than 30 minutes away!) yet a pikey, sorry, traveller, can park his lorry & caravan in the middle of a roundabout, churning the grass & leaving mountains of litter behind without so much as a peep out of the police.
I think that often, the word 'racist' is confused with the words 'equal treatment'. Quite often when you speak out, you are branded racist and xenophobic - NO, I just want you to treat them the same way as you treat everyone else.

Multiculturalism isnt a problem...its when people.don't integrate and wish to enforce their ideologies on us

Just like the Roman's forced straight roads and sanitation upon us and kept speaking Latin? The swines!

People using their native tongues around me isn't as much of an issue as English kids "ye nar like, talkin' dat like Pigin ing-ger-lish innit bruv, yeah? Like yeah". People complaining about foreigners taking jobs makes me laugh as well. A Tesco opened near me recently. They advertised in job centers and the local press to fill 148 positions. Out of the five thousand or so applications only thirty one were British people and out of those 24 were English. We're a country that revolves around the hand out system. One of my neighbors is forth generation unemployed and proud that because he has four kids he takes home twice as much as me a year. In my position I get to observe the foreign to British ratio of employees at the site I work at and it is easily 30-1

One incident at work a few years ago; a couple of lads were having a go at a "bloody foreigner", he was of Pakistani origin. I intervened and asked where he was from. "Peterborough" so I turned to the lads and said I was from the Northern Territories of Canada so if you have a problem with foreigners you have a problem with me not him (I'm technically English but of Canadian origin). They shut up for some reason. ;)

I'm more concerned about the grammer in the thread title. ;)

If "English" people can't get the language right, what hope does anyone else have??

I can't speak for Britain, having never been that far North. But, considering that I am white and in Australia, I feel I can speak on the Immigration side of it...

My country was founded on Immigration, hell the first White people on the East coast were mostly criminals from your land. Back at the turn of the century, there was a massive influx of English thanks to the "10 pound Pom" sceme. After the Second World War, Italians emigrated en masse to the Great Southern Land, looking for the dream of work and fortune. Likewise the Greeks, the Indians, the Congolese, Somalis, I could go on and on and on. Each time there was hatred and shunning of the new group, but eventually (and usually when a new group came along) everyone proudly became "Australian." This massive melting pot of culture, food and diversity wouldn't be the same without it.

Now, you would believe that Muslims are all terrorists and hate everything that capitalism stands for, but do you actually believe that every Muslim believes that? They are called extremists for a reason. If you want to see the 'christian' version of these extremists, have a google for "Westborough Baptist Church." Scary people, just like the Muslim extremists. But, just like every Christian is not like WBC, neither is every Muslim an extremist. If they were, Australia would be at great risk thanks to one of the largest Muslim populations living in Indonesia, just a few hundred kilometres off our coast.

I do have Congolese, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Turkish, Indonesian, Malaysian, Korean and Anglo-Saxon friends. I believe that my life would not be half as enriched as it is today. I do believe that if you have closed off your mind to not welcome all people into your life in some way, then it is not them who are missing out, it is YOU. And I feel sorry for you.

That was a good read, but unfortunately you have greatly misunderstood or i have expressed opinions in the wrong way.

I have spoke to muslims who hate extremeists. I work with africans /indians daily and i enjoy speaking to them, as do they.

Also, i have spoke to muslims that want a cap on immigration and do genuinely love England.

My dad travels to dubai, china, india, siberia so i am always interested in how other cultures live.

Your post may be more suited to a racist, not to me who wants the government to grow some balls and listen to the needs of people.

Tbh..no matter what everyone thinks...i think groups like edl will only get bigger...and as shadeyman said...how long until blood is shed

The Quran commands its followers to launch jihads or holy wars of conquest to force conversions to Islam.

Fight and slay the unbelievers wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war. (Surah IX:5)

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his apostle, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth (i.e. Islam), (even if they are people of the Book), until they pay the tax with willing submission and feel themselves subdued. (Surah IX:29)

Seize them and slay them wherever you find them. (Surah IV:89,91)

To be a muslim you must follow the Quran. So do all muslims have extremist views? Probabely, question is would they admit it? ...

Do you identify yourself as a Christian who believes the bible? If so, go and have a read of the following passages and get back to me...

Numbers 31.15-18.
Isaiah 13. 13-19
Matthew 10. 34-37
