Seicento 1.4 Uno Turbo'd Seicento Rebuild Thread

Introduction

As a few of you may know, ive bought a nail of a car... I myself knew this, but i wanted to spend some time, money and effort to get it back in a show & stand worthy condition.

It was owned on here by 'wardy25' and as far as i can tell he spent a fortune on her... It was later sold, and then neglected... So far i understand that the car was left off the road for ages, owned by chavs, and thrashed, and thats only when its actually been running...

After it being sold on and on, i ended up snapping up the car...

The car has loads of problems, which i knew prior to me buying her, but she does come with loads of cool stuff...

The interior is full leather, its got powder coated abarth wheels, skirts spoiler, uprated brakes, and the main thing.... a tasty 1.4 uno turbo engine... which i think is the MK2 engine.

The car also comes with panels hanging off, cold start problems, faded paint, wiring faults, and more holes in the exhaust than swiss cheese....

So as a good thread goes.... here are a few pictures of the car in its current condition...

Hopefully in the near future, it wont look anything like it does today...
Do you know what his price's are like?

I can make an exhaust, but i just want it to flow as best as possible seeing as its a turbo'd engine..

LASt time I was there he fitted my manifold, made-up a decat section and flanged the old cat - cost about £60 which I was happy with.should be able to find his number on the net

Got my full system made by John Ashley... cost about 240 iirc.
full 2" stainless. stainless straight thru back box (I asked for it to be silent which it is! but does have a nice deep tone outside... turbo itself it louder haha)

Top quality work tho... well chuffed with it.
got mine a bit cheaper (not sure how much by...) cos hes knows a lot of people from the same motorsport club as me.

lol yea, can see the bonnet doesnt fit properly either lol...
Still looks better without the hole cut out!
Think im going to have a shop around for an exhaust this week, see if i can get a cheap one sorted...

With regards to a turbo'd engine & exhaust, ive been told to go for 2.25" pipework... but am i better in having a middle silencer and then pipes to the rear (each side of the bumper) as it currently is... or remove the middle box, and have a seperate exhaust box at each end of the exhaust?

personally I would fibre glass behind the new cutout and repaint, just have the one exit on the standard and have 1 box.

Would also work out cheaper when it comes to having the exhaust made up.

Thanks

Would look sh*te as i wouldnt get a colour match due to paint fade... so its not really an option.

yea i always use nuneaton replacement panels as they are bang on with paint...

Still id rather go via the double exhaust option as if i dont get the match perfect it will look cr*p...

Finishing off some birthday shopping for my partner tomorrow lol... no time for the fiat sadly lol.

lol no idea on the crane... when the weather is a bit better il be taking mine out to replace cambelt, headgasket, sort the wiring etc....

has anyone fitted motorbike cans to a car before?

Thinking they could look pretty cool, and they shouldnt be too noisy due to me running a turbo, but im not sure if they will be restrictive or not...

Get a race can second hand off fleabay or even go over to bikes and sports at attleborough ind.

You will need one with a 45 degree bend and then it's just weld it all together.

Race cans have baffles but there is hardly any to be honest, wouldn't say they are restrictive in any way either.

Thanks

i had one on my sei, it wasn't really noisy and if anything it seemed to pick up a bit quicker than the standard exhaust, it was an ART can and only cosy £5 off ebay for the whole thing, but then it dropped off 4 days later outside my local.

mine (before turbo) had a bike can. its still in use now on my mates cinq... best sounding cinq ever imho. quiet on motorway. purrs nice and not at all raspy

there VERY light to... which is not a good thing on your car... need as much weight at the rear as you can :)

Haha thats what fat friend's are for... Only messin...

Seen a tasty set on ebay i have my eye on, but i doubt the inlet on them will be near the 2.1/4 which i need...

Picked up some sexy seats today... Cobra Clubman seats... (two weeks old) and complete with mini runners... which will be removed, and the seats will then be on custom runners... as i raided the local scrappy for the runners out of a seicento..

Just need to weld some steel flats onto the runners, pillar drill through and add a lick of paint... then bolt up and fit into the car....

Not bad as these seats are £120 each, and then the subframes are another £40 each... I picked the whole lot up for a tidy sum of £130, although traveled 280miles round trip for them lol... (so another £25 of diesel)... Still a bargain as i will be selling the mini frames as soon as i get chance.

Heres what they look like (need a clean as they have been sat in a garage)...

Not bad, you only need one though :D.

Finally got my cards painted and in, crossovers re-wired and now I have "some" audio. Have to show you when you come out next.

Toss me a text tomorrow, I might be out after the car is out of fiat :). (assuming I get it back same day anyway)

Thanks

Hello peoples....

Well today ive spent £50.... All for a full stainless exhaust system (twin exit).... well the materials :p

I managed to get two lengths of 60mm 304 brushed stainless steel 2mm wall and 1.7mtrs each for a jaw dropping £15 per length....

And then two Custom Chrome Ends for £10 a Piece.... although a lot bigger than i thought they where.

I have also built the runners for my buckets as i like to do the work myself to keep costs down..!

These ended up costing me arount the £25 mark including the cash for a cr*p grinder, as i was fed up of lending my mates.... Money well spent as i decided to modify the inner of my car so i can engage 2nd properly ;) lol... it was easier than messin with the gear selectors.. Il have it set a lot better when the engine has had its rebuild next year (too cold for much more driveway work this year)....

Had a go at welding the stainless with my gasless mig... I know it should be TIG welded with stainless weld, but as i have neither my new mig welder came out to play.... Only really means after a while the welds will rust... but most standard systems rust anyhow, and if you could see the excuse for the system on it now you would agree that anything is better!

I need to buy some custom rubber mountings for the exhaust, but as soon as i start work on it il be getting the camera out!!

Il also get a few snaps of the exhaust i currently have..... although its more like bits of an exhaust!
