Seicento 1.4 Uno Turbo'd Seicento Rebuild Thread

Introduction

As a few of you may know, ive bought a nail of a car... I myself knew this, but i wanted to spend some time, money and effort to get it back in a show & stand worthy condition.

It was owned on here by 'wardy25' and as far as i can tell he spent a fortune on her... It was later sold, and then neglected... So far i understand that the car was left off the road for ages, owned by chavs, and thrashed, and thats only when its actually been running...

After it being sold on and on, i ended up snapping up the car...

The car has loads of problems, which i knew prior to me buying her, but she does come with loads of cool stuff...

The interior is full leather, its got powder coated abarth wheels, skirts spoiler, uprated brakes, and the main thing.... a tasty 1.4 uno turbo engine... which i think is the MK2 engine.

The car also comes with panels hanging off, cold start problems, faded paint, wiring faults, and more holes in the exhaust than swiss cheese....

So as a good thread goes.... here are a few pictures of the car in its current condition...

Hopefully in the near future, it wont look anything like it does today...
I think it can. Glass is bonded (front and rear screens) anyway, so can't see any sensible way they could attatch the headlining to the screens.

Wots this fake suede, anyway?

Ive been doing a bit of a search on here and it looks possible to remove the headlining.... so il be doing that...

Oh and yea its a fake suede, or at least i think it is... its like alcantara, if you rub your hand one way it turns the fabric a different colour, pretty cool really

Heh, looks pretty cool. I've got that bit of trim sitting in my car waiting for ye.

Where did you get that fabric from?

Have to have a gander at my finished rear cards sometime, need to finish carpeting my boot next week.

I need one hell of a color match for the material.....

Thanks

Brill should be about sometime next week as im lacking an exhaust or any seating at the min lol... however there is half a car in my room!

Have you been doing the carpet in the rear of yours in sections then?

Oh and birmingham for the fabric, its called the rag market, outside near the bullring.. the stuff i picked up was £2.99 per meter... bargain!

Some. But it'll make such a noise you're bound to be knicked!

But the big problem with that car will be keeping it on the road -- it really doesn't need any more power!

The power is far from a problem with this car... With all the stupid pipe work the car has a mother of a turbo lag.... Once its in boost the car is stupidly quick......

So i dont really get wheel spin or major traction problems...

I did -youtube- a screamer pipe vid, and it does look a tad loud lol.. Kind of like running an engine with a blowing manifold lol

iirc in my Cinq the front window seal goes over the head liner but it's just a thin bit of rubber than you can pop back over with a credit card, etc. (possibly different in a Sei but a lot of things are the same between them).

btw who is Goldy? :p

That's probably a good thing! Looks like someone did their sums wrong on the tub, but too big will be much more manageable than too small. If the mani looks like a bodge job, that would be a good place to start if you want to live more dangerously.

The R53 MINI uses a Chrysler sourced 1.6L iron block fairly old design unrefined engine with Eaton Supercharger, used to keep development costs and ultimately resale costs down to an acceptable level, though 220bhp is very easy to get from them, I did consider one as the Celica GT4 replacement.

The new R56 MINI uses a much more modern alloy block jointly developed with Peugeot 1.6L Turbo engine as found in 207 GTi etc. as standard more powerful, more torque, lower emissions, lower mpg, lighter, and mush more refined than earlier engine.

Good progress on the car to bring post back on track, but the question begs to be asked, you're selling the 2L Sei as it has no back seats as baby on the way & therefore impracticable, but you then buy fixed bucket seats for this car which limits rear access, or have I missed something?

Emma is signed in but I can't be arsed logging out and back in but its me J333EVO :)

Missed something lol... Is in the post somewhere, but we have a second car, and at worst case the seicento can have rear seats refitted, the black one cant without a good days work, and to be fair i dont want to destroy that car...
