Mikeee asked for some pics minus the masking. So as the black had cured. I took some. But found the black had seeped so then sanded off where it had seeped. But taking the masking off has ripped a small amount of the paint off as well. So masking them now for the purple.

Are you going to try and stick masking tape / paper over the black you have already painted?

Surely this is going to pull the black off when you remove it?

thisbitterpill, carl has tested it, dont worry its fine, just like the last effort

what are we to judge his wonderful artwork so far

What it looks like when its "finished" it isnt the issue. The issue is what is it going to look like after it has been stuck on the front of the car for a few months and been exposed to dirt, sunlight, rain, temperature extremes, pressure washing etc etc? 10 coats of laquer wont do a thing if the paint isnt keyed to the surface and if its lifting with the making tape it obviously isnt.

i painted a red rear badge just to fill the hole on my boot until i got it smoothed, no matter how much i keyed it up it the masking tape just kept pulling it off lol,

so i gave up and painted the whole feckin thing black :p

I just got my new badges, they're gorgeous. Don't know why you would want to do that  But at least you tried something new.

As for the side stripes. I actually really like them. Glad you didn't go for some overly bright purple

it has keyed. dont know how much you or any others know about enamel paint but it is strange stuff almost like a layer of plastic. but when i scratched it with the scalpel whilst removing the masking it didnt peel which as i say with it being like a layer of plastic if it hadnt keyed i could have pulled the lot off in a sheet.

basically i thought id give it a go and if it turns out crap (which granted it has) so be it but it can be rescued so will give it my best shot and if i can make it work ill take a bit more care over the boot badge and if they turn out ok they would look good imo. if this one doesnt though its going in the bin ill flog the other before i do anything to it and then debadge.
