I rather like the original. It was one of the few GM cars in the USA that wasn't ugly. That's because it was styled to resemble the 1937 Cord 810/812. The reason they picked the old Cord for inspiration is because the Toronado was GMs first front driver in the USA and the Cord was also a front driver. The Toronado came out in late 65 as a 66 model.

Isn't taste a funny thing, I think it's ugly as hell, but like many of the other American cars of that era.
