Seicento Monster Cento/ECU Master Thread

Introduction

Well starting this is well overdue although technically it's still just a car and a big pile of bits at the moment. It will come together quickly though as I have access to a commercial garage in the evenings and on weekends which belongs to a good friend. I'm lucky enough to have another good friend who is a self employed coded welder/fabricator and yet another good friend who owns a powder coating business. Myself, I do electronics so pretty much everything is covered. :D

I'm not going to go into minor details as most of it has been discussed before (especially the engine which was purchased from Gazzaman). However I will answer any questions and will go into detail with the DET 3 setup and installation as there are no UK guides I'm aware of for this.

So the car:

A 2000 SPI Seicento Abarth (probably manufactured late 1999) which replaces the silver Cinq (SPI Turbocharged) I have recently sold for restoration. The silver chap needed some TLC due to a bad repair from a rear collision before I purchased him. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I sold him on with the standard engine and pinched Mrs. Honeymonsters Sei after buying her a newer yellow ragtop replacement which I got a good deal on but wasn't really suitable for my project.

The planned spec is as follows, only thing I'm missing is the TB. Now Sorted (thanks Blu!)

Cheers
well its not ideal no, neither my tubs have had issues with heat though.. I was planning to stick the CDA near the passenger headlight like my cone and then run a duct somewhere to colder air.. For the reducer, first thing that sprang to my mind was exhaust suppliers, surely you can get a nice shiny bit of stainless reducer from one of them for not too much dollar.

I know way back J333EVO had CDA mounted where i was intending and i think he ran a supply duct down over gearbox and somehwere near wheel arch or something.. I never actually saw it, perhaps its still the same.... fingers99 care to share?

I'm not worried about the adaptor part that will be easy, drain pipe section in B&Q will probably stock a solution. I'm worried about the filter being the size of a dinner plate. :D

As for heat issues... you probably wouldn't have noticed just lost power and had more heat soak in traffic. Jersey is traffic most of the time. :(

Yes, that's right. Aaron always puts the filter airbox atop the gearbox. CDA unit with convoluted red tubing. If you use a CDA, do replace the little screws with stainless ones. They rust and look horrible.
Can't remember where the red tubing actually ran to!

When I get a chance I'll see if I can find any pics.

If I build another FWD turbo the turbo will sit on top of the gearbox (manifold like the one in the Polish car Woj posted) so I'll have to re-think the placement of the filter, cold air, etc.

hey im new to da foum wt is a tubo and hw do ya installl one ? :p

glad to see things are going well are you going to rolling road it one day ? or road tune plus when you are done a guide ? :)

You have to fit a blower mate cos it's well good innit. I as a mate hoo is a well gud mekanic. Fittin 3 extra batereez for ma sound system and 10 6x9's in the rear shelf. Let me know if I can help anyone cos I am a pro tuner innit... Bo!

Ha ha ha :D

Damn talking like that makes me feel like I'm lowering my IQ. Now I guess I have to call you CP. Needless to say the avatar kind of gave it away.

It's just too damn cold at the moment brrrrr!

Not really an update (I'm working 12 hour days ATM) just some bits in the post:

Hats off to ASH for sending a 3kg parcel recorded delivery to Jersey for £1.50

Hoses look good and their prices were very reasonable too. I guess the real test will be seeing how long they last but the feel inspires confidence. (y)

Well Monster is tucked up safe in a clean dry paint shop until the new year. I simply don't have time to do any more until then and plan to have a nice relaxing Christmas break. The exhaust system is finished bar a few hangers needing to be welded on, I will post some pictures at a later date.

For those who celebrate it enjoy your Christmas chaps. :)

Thanks for the wishes, Marry X-mas!

But, in all honesty mate, I think you got the idea of a quiet X-mas all wrong

Well eating till your clothes no longer fit and being unable to drive for several days due to consuming large quantities of refreshing beverages seems relaxing to me?

Well, no, you see, that you only deserve to do after you have been lying down on your parent's cold shed floor for 8 hours trying to do something to your car. Only then is X-mas feasting earned. At least that's how I remember last 7 or so X-mas holidays. Not this one though :D

Well that depends... the only reason any job would take 8 hours on a Cento would be due to pre-feast consumption of tasty Christmas beverages.

Due to you Polish chaps celebrating most things a day early I can only think that 8 hour job was something simple causing difficulties due to being unsure of which of the three duplicate objects you were seeing to select. :D

Lying on a cold shed floor certainly implies some religious qulaities though... are you sure it wasn't a manger and you were waiting for three wise mechanics?

Slight delay, Desy is moving workshop so Monster remains tucked up safe and dry in the paint shop. On the plus side his new place has a ramp so finishing the remaining pipeswork will be much easier. (y)

Just placed another order with ASH for some more aluminium sections. Once again £1.25 shipping and no V.A.T. :D

In the mean time I'm after a rust free sunroof, Monsters is a little worse for wear, in fact all Seis this age seem to have crusty sun roofs but not Cinqs .

If anyone has a clean one they would be happy to ship please let me know. :)

Also a nice mint silver Cinq came up with 23,000 miles in the local classifieds over Christmas. I was tempted by but resisted, one project at a time and I'm running out of parking spaces. :D

Yes the sunroof on my 2001 sei is also a bit crusty! Woukd like a fresh one at some point, buts its way down on the list of priorities. The dead fuel pump is at the top of the list at the mo.

Have enjoyed this thread looking forward to more updates hope the delay is not too prolonged!

cp advises you to buy the cinq ;)

I actually have a full spare Abarth body kit in silver and boxes full of Cinq spares (including a manifold and a turbo), however if I do another small Fiat it would have to be something like this:

abarth-ot-130477.jpg

I'd like to do a project that is actually worth more than when I started for a change... lol
