Would you put Halfords oil in your car?

Would you say halfords oil of the exact same spec and fully synthetic. is as good (or good enough) as castrol or whatever?

Oh no.... Beany you poor b&&ger ur gonna get flamed.....

Surely oil should be oil, anyways if its from Halfords it won't be made by them (i.e rebadged) as im pretty sure that halfords dont have an oil refinary :-D It should be ok

The "which oil should I use" thing has caused countless ructions on ere mate... You will probably get the "always use Selenia...." and "I use Castrol Edge...." "nah that causes sludge,...." Shell Helix is best...."... OMG it was endless and you just kicked it off again...

well yes and no. Im just 95% sure in my head that it would be fine to use halfords oil. but just 5% niggling doubt that says nah, only use the best. But my head says halfords will be exactly the same.

charges you LESS surely? £35 nicker for 5 litres as supposed to £40 nicker for 4 litres castrol?

If their oil is anything like their windscreen wipers I would not touch it with a ten foot pole.

Old section mod rich roope used to work part time for them..he said they paid pennies for them blades and charged a lot..

Look on ebay you can very often get selenia cheaper on there..dealer charged me I think it was £26 for 5ltrs last time I bought it..

I've only used Halfords wipers once, about 15 years ago and never again. They were on the car for a week and I ripped them off and threw them away. Only ever use Bosch now.

I change mine every six months .car doesnt get used that much now though but rubber does perish..Bosch are very good..(y)

I went into Halfords to buy Bosch Aero wipers. Needless to say they didn’t have any. I got Bosch's from ebay and £12 cheaper than Halfords own cheap rubbish.

Anyway the chap behind the counter told me Halfords Oil is just Esso. I wouldnt use it though, you get what you pay for.

I have been topping up my GP with it for the last 12 months.......guess whats happened.....NOTHING!

Its the specifications of the oil that matter, NOT the name on the bottle.

no i wouldnt. I use selenia "cos i can" but im sure that it would make very little difference compared to a similarly high quality oil. just dont use castrol...

my uncle prefers carlube and he's tried loads in many different cars (hes a self-employed mechanic)

oh and FYI the numbers on different brands do not make them the same... you can have a cheap "fully synth" and an expensive one, and the cheaper one WILL be poorer quality (theres a loophole in law that allows them to put so much mineral in synthetic, and vice versa)

of course this only applies to really cheap oils, as everyone says there cant be too much difference within the same ratings.
