Technical sump plug hell

If you need to use car ; refit sump plug , fill oil to correct level and go. Fit new filter another day.
It is better to fit new filter at same time as oil bit the filter only contains a small amount of old oil so not totally drastic.

If you choose to spear the filter with a screw driver to start undoing, be aware you cannot drive car until old filter of and new filter on.

Well done, a bit of success always makes you feel good.
Note put a little oil on the rubber sealing ring before fitting new filter and nip it up firmly by hand, then with new oil run engine on tickover until oil light goes out then rev a bit , switch off and check for oil leaks , finally top up oil to max on stick on level ground.
Sump plug tight but not over tight I trust;)

Im so cold, but now have a new fear. I think there might be too much oil in there? The internet said 2.8l, so I added just about 2.5, ran it for a bit, came off the ramps, and checked the oil. And, well, did I mess up? Like theres oil loads of the way up the dipstick, not just the measuring bit at the end. I wiped it, put it back in.

Here's the oil bottle and dipstick. The bottle was 4l. Maybe I didn't get all the oil out when I drained it? Omg why do I mess everything up. I will check tomorrow in daylight and get a better pic.

Thankyou, saw this too late but did put oil on the filter. I have cardboard under to check for leaks. Just worried theres too much oil in there now. 😭

Well done! :D

I feel bad now, I recommended that strap tool to you. I have a few filter tools and that's my favourite, I find it works on everything.

Your pic of strap wrench shows correct way round
Does it? I use mine the other way round.

Mine has one grippy side. Works best if you clean the outside of the filter first and strap needs to be tight.
