Hello all, my first post on here. Q* On a 2008 Fiat 500 sport 1.4 6sp manual, there seems to be a slight oil leak around differential.
APPARENTLY THERE'S AN UNUSED SPEEDO DRIVE HOLE THAT IS BLANKED OFF WITH A PLUG, THIS SEEMS TO BE WHAT'S LEAKING.
HAS ANYONE REPLACED THIS PLUG?
I've done a big web search but can't find anything about it or a replacement plug just pictures. Any help appreciated thx 😀

Welcome to the forums.

That looks like a blanking plug that is a temporary plug which is removed and discarded when the proper component is fitted (Is that one threaded?) You say unused, but is it a gearbox that fits many cars, and some may have a speedo cable?
Others may have more info, but a more permanent plug seems the order of the day.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

As far as I know its an original plug not temporary and the speedo is read from the ABS.
The 2008 Fiat 500 1.4L with a transmission is equipped with a C510 series manual transaxle, specifically the C514.6 manual transmission. The "6" in the designation denotes a 6-speed layout.
I don't want to chance trying to remove it before having a replacement plug.

FINALLY!! THIS WOULD BE IT. Not threaded and held in place by screw below locking it in. Makes sense now. The part you "see" when installed is just the tip of the iceberg! Hopefully just a new "o" ring will fix it and I can get the plug out without damaging it too much. Thx koalar.
