Carl, you sound like you've got it all together with the painting and stuff, but a bit of advice with the laquer is to heat it up slightly (in some warm water) just before your going to use it as it will help you to apply a nice thin layer and avoid the dreaded 'matte' look.

ah its spray on lacquer. warming it up does help though i agree.

been painting and airbrushing lexan car bodies for years tris partly why i knew pretty much the only paint that will stand any chance is enamel (sticks to pretty much everything). as long as im patient and let the black cure properly then all should be fine.

not ideal operating temperatures for enamel paint.

the blacks still curing as its a bit soft. not exactly ideal temperatures for the paint. given it for coats of Tamiya TS-29 semi gloss black. got my lacquer on order and decided against the original purple as it was too light so will pick up some Tamiya TS-37 on saturday probably.

only done the grille badge so far as ra out of the black (only had a 1/4 tin).

but give me one min and ill get some pics.

rolf, why in the hell are you using remote controll car paint, are you retarded or something? thats paint for a flexible plastic shell, not a solid badge which has a metal outer rim? why didnt you just go down your local autocar place and pick a couple of cans up and do it properly.....its not a toy like tamiyas are....(n)

Oooo that sounded really snooty and smug for some reason, If you leave stuff like that out of your posts then you'll be best buddies with everyone :p

fair point. i really should read through my posts more often before i post them.

noo far from it.

if this works properly they will come out "ok" rather than good or nice.

also the center part of the red badges i believe is perspex and the metal is chromed so did a patch test on the back of the badge first and it came ut ok so its just letting the colours cure properly.
