just as a little note...

a friend of mine had a Nova that was painted cadburys purple... he got a letter from them saying they were going to sue cos he also had stickers of the logo in various places

so yeah... vimto might not be too happy about you plastering thier name all over your mothers GP

also, what does your mum think to all this?! shes the one thats got to drive the thing!

oh well he might not even be able to make any so ill have to wait and see.

as long as i pay for the mods and pay the difference in insurance when i can she doesnt mind.

my premium has just dropped anyhow dunno by how much but according to my ma quite a bit as it was £850 after dropping from the original quote of £1200

weight on the diff and gearbox. although i still need to way a standard steel.

Where did you pick that gem up from :D ????? Its nothing to do with weight, all weight does is slow acceleration. Larger diameter wheels require more torque to turn them and propel the car at a given rate than smaller diameter ones do, and its this increase in Torque that the diff/g-box sees that is going to shorten its life and damage it,.......I suggest you stick to computing and leave the physics/engineering to the experts.

Google....... Torque = Force X Distance ..... and do a bit of research.

its 17 id like but 16 if i cor have the 17s due to weight. although oz's are meant to be pretty light anyhow.

im getting OZ Michelangelo 8s.

forget the diff and gearbox, the problems with those is due to two things: 1) fiat make dodgy diffs, they always have; and 2) its crap immature drivers that drive the car badly putting too much stress on the diff.

Bigger wheels make things worse, but only marginally. i like those wheels, please get 17"s :)

:yeahthat:
Best way to think of it rolf is.... a REALLY tight nut(gear box). you try to undo it with a spanner(small wheel) you dont have enough leverage to undo the nut so you go to your tool box and pull out a beaker bar and socket.(large wheel) this removes the nut(kills the gearbox) with little effort.

IMHO if you have any form of clutch control your gear box will be fine.

......almost right, you have forgotten to say that in this case ie. the fitting of larger wheels the forces involved are reversed.

i already have blue headlights so thought may as well go the whole hock.

ill see what he can do anyways and if i dont like them i dont have to have them or i could use them for sumut else

are they legal?

p.s every other road user in the world will hate you for having these. I keep seeing boy racers in my rear view mirror with them and think its an emergancy vehichle at first:tosser:

asking for a beating if you ask me:p

Carl, your gonna look like a complete :tosser: if you are going to do what you do. Vimto stickers are then biggest mistake you are gonna make if you do go ahead. And secondly blue side repeaters are gonna look dumb on a black and purple car.... you can tell the car is getting a battering... being black blue and purple!

will any of it ever happen though?

seems my understanding of why 17"s fook up diffs and gear boxes was wrong. but i think i understand now.

i dont rag around the place if thats what you mean craig and although there are people with better clutch control (due to experience if nowt else) i think mine is quite good.

Good choice of wheel Rolf (y) go 17"

i will

Carl, i would like to congratulate you on ruining your car with crap :)

what crap are you thinking of?

the punto brakelight cover is coming off for a start (i agree it looks chavvy and crap) and ill see what i do next.

:ROFLMAO:

i cant wait to see the pics of it completed..... and what happens if you fail your test and your mum has to carry on driving round in your car :p (not meaning to be ride of course)

it beats the mpg of the jeep and shes looking into a gp or 500 for herself.

He is all talk :D ....it will never happen. What happened to the purple badges?

how much do you know about enamel paint?

its too cold to spray them as soon as it warms up a bit ill do them. ive got the paint now i just need to get the laquer.

there the blue lidl bulbs which are e marked so es they are legal

no no im not touching the side repeaters (although i might see about some purple ones) im getting blue sidelight bulbs to go with the main beams (they shine a bright white rather than a yellowy one). and for the vimto stickers i might not even get any yet as he needs to see if he can make them first and then if i do there is nowt to say they are going on the gp.

Carl, 16"/17" wheels, lowered, tints, rear/front light, aerial,.... thats all... especially for a 1.2. I can see this going horribly wrong...

as soon as i can be bothered to get to the bank to pay some in. ill order my wheels. then its tints, lowered, wheel refurb, angel eyes (possibly the double angel eyes), black rear lights (of some sort), something with my grill (still looking at full linea kit but cor afford it at the mo) and thats about it for the outside anyways.

i still have to fit/do: gsr, badges (once painted), bootlight, footwell leds (theyre in but not angled properly and need to finish wiring them), boot tidy (and other crimbo pressies), paint my calipers (too cold for xylene).

on a side nte has anyone else used a silicone blade?

i got one for crimbo. theyre supposed to dry the car giving a streak free finish after washing.

Blades scratch the **** out of your car as soon as you get a tiny bit of grit on them which will basically be instantly. I used the AG aquablade on my dads car once, never again. Buggered the paintwork.

Ruining your car with crap was in reference to all the future stuff you have said you are putting on it. Dont quote me what this is as you have spouted that much stuff since you joined i dont bother taking any of it in.

It was nice and warm back in the summer when you first said you were going to do it :D:D.

Admit it Carl, you a dreamer, all talk and NO action.
