You know that it's going to put your insurance through the roof don't you? It wouldn't surprise me if it doubled, if not tripled your premium.

i know my insurance will go up.

who said that? there is no way it will learn anything at idle. i bet at idle the manifold pressure is identical to standard.

I also have my doubts that these ecu learn anything (other then idle values)

the chap who i bought it off. when him and who i presume was his dad delivered it. they showed me where it fits and explained what i would have to do to fit it. then said this would be all it would take for the ecu to learn.

no way. I'm sorry but that's impossible... so he used approximately 1- 2mm of tread in 79000 seventy nine thousand miles?

he drives a g reg which he got second hand when i was about 3 months old and never replaced the tyres till it went in for an mot (these were the michelins it left the factory with) in about 1994 and was told that the sidewalls had perished although they still had 6-7mm tread left.

wouldnt we all  especially for just 135 for 4

£135.60 a corner fitted.

that makes more sense.

do some research though, and you will discover that you can get tyres for a third of that price that will in all likelyhood stick to the road better ;)

to get that crazy milage (im still not sure i believe it tbh) he would have to drive like a granny and never once corner hard.

its either the michelin exaltos (only michelin tyre available in the size i need), continental premium contacts 2s or pirelli corsas. i admit i need to do some more research but as i now cant afford the wheels for a bit longer lt can wait.

at the tme he probably did drive like a granny as i was a todler in his van (plus people wouldnt be to chuffed to find he had been chucking their tvs etc around) but he does drive pretty quickly and annoyingly tailgates everyone.

for a GP 8v i would have kumho exctas, best value for money tyre ever IMO. grippy in wet and dry, and better than any meduim range pirelli.

or if you really want a bit more grip in the dry, toyo proxes tr-1s, also not too bad a price for what they are.

contact 2's are fantastic :worship: but your gp wont develop anywhere near the cornering force required to take advantage of them fully! same with the pirelli corsas. save your money and put expensive tyres on a car that needs them (y)

thanks munkul ill bear that in mind

The Toyo's are very good tyre's... and i also like continentals that you say youve been looking at. Tyre choice can be a personal thing, i've always liked cooper sport zeon xtc tyres (by Avon) but dont really know anyone else who uses them.
