Technical MOT failure

HI,

Our 2019 Panda failed it's MOT on an engine light, the diagnostic indicated that there is a difference between sensors on the timing off the car. The garage have said the varietor needs replacing. They have quoted £950 including a cambelt, as they say that needs to be done at the same time, even though it has only done 40K miles.

Any thoughts? Is this too much, do we need to replace the cambelt?

You will need to replace the cam belt which might have jumped a tooth. There is no certainty that it needs a new variator.

You need to research the fiat part numbers before proceeding.

P001? Normally P0011 or P0016

I'd try cleaning the solenoid filter first

VVT engines need good clean correct oil

Are you willing to get your hands dirty or are you leaving it up to a garage to fix.
