Oh dear. This could be a big issue I believe. Have a look at this it may give some clues. One possibility is dirty transmission oil which might not be so bad.Got both amber warning lights on code p1850
Gear positioning sensor, is it as expensive as fiat are quoting
I’m not sure where it went now, but a few years back @Most Easterly Pandas took his bravo with a robotic Gear box to Desira Norwich and it didn’t end well with enormous cost and Desira never getting to the bottom of the problem, the car was unserviceable I seem to remember and eventually replace with a Prius.I would insist the dealer agree that if this doesnt rectify the fault they will not charge you and will remove the said part FOC and put back the original. I will say that Desira in Norwich have been excellent and have a100% record of correct diagnosis of various faults over 10 years so if the diagnostics were followed there is hope they might getit right. I agree an independant Alph / Fiat specialist is your best bet. I cant really fathom why people shy away from a simple robotised gearbox repair as it cannot be technically impossible for a good engineer to sort it.
Curious as to where your extensive claim of Desira Norwich being excellent and having a 100% record of correct diagnosis has come from. I can confirm first hand that this is NOT the case!I would insist the dealer agree that if this doesnt rectify the fault they will not charge you and will remove the said part FOC and put back the original. I cant really fathom why people shy away from a simple robotised gearbox repair as it cannot be technically impossible for a good engineer to sort it. Its just a sad sign of the times that there are now very few good engineers. I think the real killer is the humongous cost of Fiat spares and noone else is going to be able to supply them. It annoys me that I cant buy a Panda auto as it would be perfect for me but the issues that seem to arise have totally put me off. If your problem is just that sensor, and the garage agree if turns out its not and they wont charge, changing the sensor and the oils mighht get you going. I really hope you can resolve this. The alternative is to fit a clutch, but I dont know how costly this approach would be inrelation to the value of the car. Good luck with it.
Ive been using them for 10 years and with 6 cars and they havn't failed me yet, or overcharged enough to cause me to cross swords, they have done about 90% of the jobs required over 275000 miles of driving, but they are a dealer and that says take care... They did the evap sensor on our 2014 car and it failed after a year. There was a £200 reduction in the bill for the required works without any argument at the first time of asking. They have never been interested in selling cars though. Now Suzuki so I have a much reduced level of confidence as their Fiat people may well now be dispersed.Curious as to where your extensive claim of Desira Norwich being excellent and having a 100% record of correct diagnosis has come from. I don't have any problem with DLR LEDs but they'd look better near the fog lights. It screams aftermarket when you stick them on the grille. True, although it then came down to practicality of how to fit them easily, and in such a way that if the car is sold and new owner want them removed...www.fiatforum.com
and good luck getting them of all dealers to agree to the first part of your post! Not a chance in hell, you’ll be paying for any incorrect diagnosis they make that’s for sure!
