Don't know why my white mirrors are so controversial, there was a blue MINI parked across from my flat today that had white mirrors, white wheels & a white roof http://pirate.shu.edu/~piccolan/Mini cooper.jpg http://images.securedwebform.com/stock/300/mini/mini/2002/3ha.jpg

Aaron.

Ah, but Minis have had different colour roofs, bonnets and mirrors since they began (more or less) :) IMO the Mini (Classic and New) is the only car where you can pull off having a different colour roof :)

I do like your mirrors Aaron :)

A 'father-daughter' team at work, how nice to watch.

My daughter worked for me during university summer holidays a while back, kept saying 'Dad, you're useless..., let me do that!!'

Update on progress, engine is back together, and the plan is to put it in the car on friday, :D

Here are some pics, sorry about all the junk in the background, dad's garage is full of so much stuff

PS, Yes the plan is to take it to Brooklands, although it won't be cosmetically finished, but will be all good in the engine department ;)

Yeah, after downloading the whole Piper catalouge I found that hidden away they had a vernier cam wheel code PULDFIRE for Fiat Fire engines listed but none of the Piper stockists had it on there sites, so after phoning Gordon at motosportworld.com he said that the item had an X next to in the dealers list so thats why they didn't list it on site as that normally meant discontinued, so he called his contact at Piper and found out that the reason for this was it was out of stock for nearly 9 months and have only just been remanufactured in teh last 4 weeks so timing was near perfect for us, so i ordered 2 one for Em one for me all i need to do now is track down a 75 cam springs shims etc from a decent scrap yard or if anyone on hear has one let me know.

The vernier allows much finer cam timing/tuning so when the cars on the rolling road it can be set up to be very accurate and therefore extract the most power available from the cam, in case anyone is wondering what it does exactly.

Aaron.

what sort of price is it? how much bhp increase can you gain out of it? or a % increase?

I paid £219 delivered for both of them direct from Piper through motorsport world tho they are listed as £105+VAT + postage from most Piper dealers as I was quoted nearly £240 from a local Piper dealer who will remain nameless as they had a why does anyone bother atitude to tuning Fiats, there is no hard and fast rule to how much power does it make its part of a proper engine build where acurate cam timing along with mapping on a rolling road will extract the full potential of all other mods fitted.

Aaron, AFAIK, the springs are the same as those fitted to the 55/60 heads

The shims definately fit.

Just read this entire thread. Wow! Sounds like a great project, can't wait to see the results.

I'm interested in the comparison between this and my own naturally aspirated project 500 engine currently in build. Power output promises to be about the same, although I suspect i'll be more ruthless with the car's weight loss that you are Emma (for starters i'll be junking elec windows, central locking, rear washwipe, carpet, sound proofing etc). Key difference will be driveability, i'm having all the time to balance the mid-range performance necessary for hillclimbs, against overall power - not a problem with a turbo solution of course. This isn't an option for me as the 1.4 multiplier on cubic capacity takes me outside the class limits.

Cheers, John

Thanks for the comments John :D

Yes your right i'm not removing any of the luxuries, its going to be an everyday car so need things like seat for giving lifts to my mates. I will still have enough power to shake off most other uprated centos :p haha.
