As the title says.

What cars have you owned, spent on modifying and the like and sold it for what amount?

Dont need to be specific, just sort of what you paid for the car, how much you spent modding it, an idea on spec, and what you sold it for.

I know cars dont make money from mods, i just wondered what sort of money people have lost due to their mods & depreciation and stuff!

Too depressing to think about :(

Nah, that's pants!

My first car I left bog standard and my current car I'm keeping standard, but the car I had in the middle lost me a fortune if you include repairs:

Pug 306 XSi £10666
Alloys & tyres £1000
Pugsport induction £280
Cambelt/Water pump £600
3 sets of front tyres £450

Sold 3 years on for £4500!

Total loss of nearly £8500! How crap!

at the last count i spent £2,600 on my Sei Abarth(not including my ICE),car was bought for £3,900 standard in 2002

And at last count spent bout £10,000 on the Pug not including purchase price and ICE

and dont intend selling either in the near future! :)

God knows how much I've thrown at the Punto, but as it is now it's worth maybe 800 quid, or if standard it'd be more like 450.

Hmmm... lemme think...

1x 1994 Fiat Punto 55SX (bought in May 2002) £1650

Alloys £100
Paint to spray alloys: £30
Avon ZV3 tyres: £190
Verdestein tyres on original steel wheels: £120
Locking bolts: £20
Longer bolts for alloys: £10
(so I've lost £470 just on wheel related stuff  )
K&N £55
EBC brakepads (now worn out and useless!) £50
De-cat: £35
Centre console: £30
Light tinting: £15
Side repeaters: £10
New discs, pads and brakepipes for MoT: £35
Brake drums: £25
Brake shoes: £10
Handbrake cables: £20
Service parts (plugs, oil, filter): about £20 x 7 or 8 services
2 cambelts@£5 each
2 fanbelts@£4 each
2 cambelt tensioners@£10 each
Thermostat £15
Water pump £15
Head gasket set and skim £50
Lambda sensor £30
Cat-back exhaust system: £75
Gearbox: £85
Gearbox oil: £10
Clutch kit: £65
Paint, underseal and welding gas/wire to patch the floor up: ~£20
Replacement throttle body £30 (will soon be off to Tricker, another £120ish!)

Also spent well over £500 on the sound system, but that would all come back out if I was to sell the car.
There's probably a lot more stuff that's slipped my mind but I'm happier not thinking about that!
(just remembered: recent alternator, battery, uprated headlght bulbs... feck bugger and arse...)

Assuming the car sold for 800 with all the mods on it, then, I've lost nearly £2200 over 3 years. Thank f*** I don't intend to sell it!

Schweet!!

I had a spin in a 220bhp MI16 205 a couple of weeks ago! Now that was fun!

Modding the car, never keep a record, its a hobby and an interest, costs like any other hobby.
Loss on the price of the car? fact of life can't stop it so never think of it:D

I once got this on a text message:
