Thanks. This info is very helpful.aircon likely needs a regas but if there is no cold air at all it need hooking up to a proper aircon recharge machine to do a full vacuum and leak test then put in the correct amount of gas oil and dye
Any moisture in the system can damage the compressor with its high tolerance steel parts, any rust internally is a death sentence for the compressor
The dye is £15, so i'll test it for leaks first.
I've worked with vacuum systems in a research and development capacity, to make batteries of all things. They're no bother to me and surprisingly cheap, I can rememer the day they cost thousands. Now just £120. So i'll evacuate all the moisture then regas.
There's no rush for me to do this job, i'll do it out of sight to avoid the various well meant warnings. So i'll leave this thread now.
