Got the car for free, spent about 300 quid rebuilding it to get it back on the road which included:
- Full side respray + rustwork
- New headgasket
- New cambelt
- New oil for gearbox and engine + filter
- New air and fuel filters
- New spark plugs n leads
- 3 new tyres

Then the mods (have very little)
Interior fabrics - bout 60 quid
Mats - free but had to work for em so cost about a tenner

ICE ( )
- 2 headunits: 1 @ 250, 1 @ 430 so £680
- 1 Kenwood Competition amp: bout £300 second hand IIRC
- 1 Vibe amp + QB69s : £120
- Kicker components: £40
- Inifinity components: £60
- 2x Kenwood 12" sub + box : £120
- Powercap: £70 IIRC
- Rockford Fostgate mids: £40
- American bass pro amp (stolen): £50
- Pioneer 10" sub and grill + box (stolen) : £60
- Sound deadening : £40
- Wiring (2 or 3 lots IIRC): £40
- wood: £30

So in total: £1650 on ICE alone, so about 2 grand overall  The cars probably only worth about 300 quid if im lucky

Nah, that's pants!

My first car I left bog standard and my current car I'm keeping standard, but the car I had in the middle lost me a fortune if you include repairs:

Pug 306 XSi £10666
Alloys & tyres £1000
Pugsport induction £280
Cambelt/Water pump £600
3 sets of front tyres £450

Sold 3 years on for £4500!

Total loss of nearly £8500! How crap!

It's what you get with new cars :(

The good thing is that you can take most of the ICE out and put it in your next car :D

Over the years I've spent loads more than I care to add up as it woudl bring a tear to my eye, but I've had a 1973 Beetle fell to bits so £40 form scrappy a 1976 Beetle sold for £1k cost me £300, a 1980 Opel Manta Berlineta fell to bits so again got about £40 from scrappy, 2 MG Metro's a MG Metro Turbo all went to scrap yard heven (I see a themem here), with only little things done before I went daft and bought a MK1 XR2 got the engine overbored to 1780cc with twin Webber 40's, twin K&N's, janspeed manifold and exhaust, full custom welded in roll cage with custom strut brace bars front and rear, RS1600i 5 speed gearbox, Koni adjustable all round Recaro's etc etc and in the end I through a pistion through the block and sold it off in bits for a grand, the Webbers alone were more than that. Then a 88 Renault 5 GT Turbo with full blue printed engine running 200bhp from only 14 psi of boost great car till some git how had passed their test the day before ran innto the backof it in a Punto which given I could drive away no problem and his car was in bits doesn't fill me with confidence in buying one of those, got fed up wit it so sold it for £500 for spares after getting insuarnce payout and bought a last model 91 5 GT Turbo which my mate now has inLondon and says that he added up all my receipts and they totalled £6.5K i gave it to him for £1.8K.

All in spent 10's of thousands, got back pennies, was it worth it? yes I loved every minute of drving every car.

Till now Cinq only £1K to buy and about double that again on oil cooler wheels, Recaro's, Punto GT brakes, Magnex, Magnecore leads stage 2 ported 'n' polished head, Spesso gasket etc

The integrale is a different beast lots of K's to buy and more to run but i did buy a 10year old limited edition leather interior for it 2 weeks ago for £1500 which looks great, but the market is such a way that it will probably not go much lower in value now.

But then I have a mate who had a MK3 Astra GSi with 6 speed 2L turbo running 348bhp at the fly wheel with over £20K of reciepts for it clocked at over 165mph, everything bespoke down to the one off Bilsteins, the full Cobra interior including roof, doorlining, proper Compomotive Magnesium motorsport alloys, ECU intercooler etc etc he sold it for £6K as he never used it :bang: so bought a bike instead :)

Reading comment's like "To depressing" and I think well you simply cant think like this, you cant put a price on enjoying yourself because thats what your doing when you mod you car, wheather it be for performance or for looks we mod our cars because we enjoy doing it and then enjoy driving around in something we know looks the doggs or goes like hell!
