Immaculate! Lol it was £1000 you dont get immaculate spiders for £1000

IIRC nothing worked on it barely, the play in the steering wheel was horrendous and it had a cooling issue

If they were immacilate cars do you think they would destroy them? Most of them will be short of MOT and/or have an issue

what about the 06 reasonably priced car they crushed with that chimney demolition? or those old Morris or whatever they were cars they kept crushing because one of the members from the club wrote in and complained about them destroying one?

again, the car was an example from the top of my head and not the whole point, but never-mind, i don't care enough to keep going on about it.

That one had to be crushed, it was a pre production model, and they come with parts that cannot make their way into public hands, and if it went back to Daewoo/Chevy it would have been. TG simply crushed it with style. I don't see a problem with that.

On another note, Im off to Top Gear Live on Monday week :D

As above think they said in the lacetti film it cudnt be resold so had to destroy it and the marinas wouldve failed their MOT due to Corrosion issues that cost more to repair than the cars worth according to other car forums

there will always be some reason why they are destroyed just the general public never really find out

well, that porsche he dropped a piano on, set on fire etc really annoyed me 'cos i love old porsches, there's loads more examples..

it's the BBC, they have millions upon millions, i very much doubt they look for cars costing a couple or a few grande that are no use to anyone else because they're going to destroy them because at the end of the day, they've bought them and they can do as they wish to them.

That and they only destroyed one of the lacettis...they had at least two one ending with HPJ and one ending in HPK. Also the engine was paggered you could see the blue smoke when it pulled away at the start of the lap although it always had been a bit smoky.

id agree with you, but that escort they put through the car wash was a terrible act :(, id love an escort like that one day, and thats one less escort/collectors car in the world now, for the sake of 2 minutes of entertainment.

i bet thats briliant, have you got any fiat/fiat forum clothing :D, let us know how it is (y)

I don't mind cars getting smashed up or damaged, just as long as it's part of the story, not just done for the sake of it. As to the escort through the carwash they've done you a favour, absolutely terrible cars the mark 3 escorts, and was quite funny to watch as fitted in with the story, though i don't know how they managed to get one water tight enough to hold the water at all!

Indeed. Top Gear is the type of program you tune into & hang on for the ride, & simply take it for what it is:D All of us petrol heads have opinions about the car industry & all it entails. Top Gear is.... what it is. Even an old cynic like myself knows that a program like this isn't really up for discussion, you only wish it was you driving all that fast cars & getting caught up in the thick of things;)

It's shown world wide in numerous countries, & makes a very lot of money, apart from anything else. Very popular. Just to say, anyone who takes things too seriously what Clarkson & co get up to & feels the need for a wee rant, really wants to get out&about a bit more, wake up & smell life its self:rolleyes: & of course the coffee.;)

Top Gear has gone way downhill imo.
It's far too scripted, and they focus more on their acting roles than actually telling us things.
I guess it's a bit like anything that becomes super successful really, the fame goes to all of those involveds heads and the quality of the content drops.

Also, Jeremy Clarkson is a buffoon and doesn't really know anything about cars whatsoever, Richard Hammond is an over-confident, smug, big headed man (with a small head) and James May is just about the only reason to watch it.

I caught a snippet tonight where they were making some sort of kit car whilst the stig had to drive a similar car to scotland (???)

To say Clarkson is presenting a car show, one would hope he had some idea about their workings and yet everything he did, he made a complete hash of it "ooh, look, I have some washers and some bolts leftover - do you think anyone will notice?"
He constantly moaned about May tidying up the tools yet he simply used something then threw it away. The guy really is a complete tit.

In other snippets I've seen, he has to be shoehorned into a fast car so he can then tell us how wonderful the car is - yeah, it looks really comfy. So what if the car does go fast? anything over 70 and you're likely to be fined.

that's normal they are bonus bolts you always get after doing a job :D

Yes, all those extra bolts etc you guys get - are taken from flatpack kitchen sets :D

What struck me most of all though is that he had just installed the driving seat and racing harness

Isn't it time, though, that we had a car programme which catered for the masses rather than just a handful of the mega-rich?
There's always something very high-powered and expensive for clarkson to shove around the airfield yet never anything on what's out there now to do with the future of transport.
There's even a huge amount of material on youtube they can follow up on - hydrogen fuel cells, water powered cars, air powered cars - even turning plastic back into oil. Any and all would warrant a section of show inbetween chucking a celeb around the airfield and smashing up toyota pickups.
