Rust on roof Lancia Ypsilon 843

I have bought the second Ypsilon, now Momo Design 2007. with very good mileage and near perfect interior and mechanical condition. BUT the car came with these weird rust spots on roof. Since i also have one of these spots on the roof of my first ypsilon i am now wondering if this is some sort of flaw on 843 or is it something i should be worried?

There are 5 of these rust spots with 2-3 cm in diameter of on average.

By @2007 FIAT were beyond serious corrosion problems


my last shared body with Lancia was the Cinq -Sei 2 door., which were not good for corrosion
BUT.. roof rust like that is unlikely to be from scratches..or impact damage


So poor factory preparation seems likely

Sorry the UK hasnt seen 'Lancia' cars for 30 years.. so I cannot speak about them directly

I have put temporary fix by cleaning remainig rust and putting another paint...

Looks like the sort of damage that can result from bird poo if you don’t clean it off and leave it to eat into the paint

Bird poo can be very damaging to car paint.

One cheap option is to remove rust and flat it yourself, then put a wrap on it…on large relatively flat areas it’s easy to do yourself, so you could go for a mad design

I can from old knowledge. Rust rust rust and more rust. So you need to get these patches sorted out and treated properly as soon as you can.

Regrettably I agree . It would probably keep rusting. You need to repaint really so you can monitor the roof. I have had problems with other makes where one panel has just rusted away for no acceptable reason you just have to get on top of the problem. But take care who you use as if they dont do correct rust conversion protection it will be money down the drain. Look for a great car restorer in your area who knows how to deal with these issues. I have a clock under a galss dome, and the condensation that appears under that dome on odd days for no known reason staggers me. It shows what the athmosphere can do.
