i think some are getting mixed up between just above the dash and middle of screen. i think fiattech means the divs that have it right in center of screen, not just above dash in center of screen?

which is why mine is mounted here
that looks even more of a distraction to me, for one i would be leaning over to look at it, the screen looks tiny maybe its the picture

Spot on Dave - being on the dash is ok, I'm on about when people stick them to the middle of the screen and then blocks their view of the child that just ran into the road from between 2 parked cars

I've never seen the fascination with satnav, are so many that inept they can't read use a map?

Said child should be better supervised and educated by its parents...
I'd rather listen to the satnav than read a map and try to drive at the same time and the gf/brothers are toally useless at map reading
I'm also in the use a f***ing map brigade, sick of driving at night and seeing someone elses satnav in the car in front shining brighter than their tail lights. How does that not A prove a distraction and B ruin your night vision on unlit sections? As for navigation I use a route planner on net before I set off write down road/junction numbers I need stick it to the dash and have a road atlas for if I need any further help.

I very rarely use mine TBH only if im in a strange city or large town (then again the speed camera alerts come in handy ( to alert me to accident black spots of course )

map wont tell you that there is traffic ahead like sat nav. wont tell you where there is a cheap petrol station just off the motor way like a sat nav.
wont give a warning if you creap over speed limit like sat nav.
There is nothing I particularly hate ON a car, however one thing I hate IN a car is trash. I mean ffs, you pull up outside your house every day, is it that difficult to take the empty bottles/cans/bk wrappers etc etc etc etc end chuck them in the bin :bang:

It's not infallible either. More than once myself and others have had to refer back to a paper map
