General Red Key

General Red Key

You need to program into each replacement compatible key a valid code that can be accepted by the car, check that you local guy can put in the required sequence, rather than trying to copy the red key. here's 2 codes that would be acceptable.
ff 81 2c 07 5f 4f 74 c6
ff 81 2c 07 9e c7 cb 7e
all hex of course.

When I bought my punto it only came with 1 blue key, silly me thought nothing of it till I lost the only key i had. Car had to be uplifted was in a reg vardy garage for over a month, dunno if they just couldn't be bothered doing it or not. Got the car back with only 2 blue keys??? Is this right should they not have given me a red key too?? Cost £375 don't know what they actually done to the car though!!

Cheers, I got the two blue cut, and the guy said they'd work. I put either of them in the ignition and the code light still lights up as with the red key, and then goes off again. As the same happens with the red key are these blue's now working correctly?

Dont know the light sequence of car dash, but if you put those codes in then they are working to a different code to the red key and are ok.
Tony.

One important point, the new keys, after programming should not work immediately until they are programmed in by the red key method. If they worked immediately, then you have been duped and 2 clones have been made of the red key. If so take them back and get them re-done.

Bought my Brava privately with just one blue key . Had another blue key cut from the blue , cost £20 . Works fine !

Still a bit worried , not havin' a red key in case the ECU needs resetting

i need to know where i can get a fiat punto blue key r reg from and how much does it cost

New question, sort of related (its about keys lol) but sorted of different too

I lost my blue key the other week and was absolutely fúcked for a while, though a nice chap from here sold me a new kit - ecu, immobiliser, boot lock and red plus blue keys so im sorted again

Except one problem - I dont have the front door locks. Are these universal and change when I put the red key near the ECU or something or do they have to be matched to the new key?

If they have to be paired to the new key, how would I go about getting front door locks that fit the new keys? Is it like on fiestas where you try 10 random cars with your key and 2 open?

Car is a M reg 55sx 5 door punto btw

How do you work that out? Before the engine wouldnt start at all and the car was completely immobilised - now I can get into it via the boot, the ignition works, all the electrics work and the engine starts up instantly

ok ive figured out ill just get a 20 quid remote locking set off ebay and get the blank cut to the punto, ive got my red key now so alls good, at least this encourages me to upgrade to remote locking anyway, and for just 20 quid, its well worth it I think

This week I bought my first ever FIAT. A 2000 (W) Punto HGT.

I seem to be reading a few things about the "Red Key".

Mine came with two Blue keys but no Red!

Should I have a Red Key for this car?

By the way - great forum here, I will be spending some considerable time here I think.
HI IF YOUR KEY IF YOU LOOK AT IT HAS A NUMBER 2 ON IT WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE A TRANSMITTER LOOKING SYMBOL IN SAME AREA YOU DO NOT NEED THE RED KEY NO NUMBER 2 YOU WILL NEED ONE,GOT THIS INFO OF FIAT DEALER AS JUST BROUGHT 2000 ELX.ANY MORE INFO LET ME KNOW AND WILL TRY TO HELP

Bought my punto originally with 2 blue keys and a red one. Steering lock jammed( see another thread for the whole story) now have replacement barrel fitted by a friend with a barrel from a scrapyard and have a new red key that came with it which starts fine, car runs perfectly. The two original blue keys now just lock the doors and cannot be used to start the car.

Now, as I gather you shouldn't use the red key all the time to start the car -which I'm having to do as it's the only key I have - where can I get another red one cut? Can I have one cut at a normal key cutters(ie Timpsons) and if so what should I do after that? Or do I have to go to a specialist key cutter to get a key with the whozit in that has to be programmed and then what is the procedure to get the new key to work with the existing code:bang: do I know what I'm talking about:) I do, but I don't know if I'm making myself clear!

DenWestie- You dont need a red key, but you do need to always have a copy of your ign key (at home). The black key you have looks like it may not have a transponder in it?. Could be the immo is bypassed. Take it to locksmith and have it checked, if there is a transponder in there, then have a new key cloned/copied.
Tony.

The black key is the same is a blue key with the blue rubber/plastic grip removed. This will have a transponder in it. People sometimes remove the blue grip when it breaks in such a way that it can no longer be used on a keyring. Then a hole can be drilled into the black plastic grip

Hey guys.

PLEASE HELP ME! :(

I have read through 79 posts on this sticky, but haven't found a clear definitive answer to my question.

I bought a Punto 55 S last night which came with 1 red key and no blues.

So, where do i get the blues???

I have read a few different things such as :-

1) Go to Timpsons and ask them to make a key for the doors from the red, and also a key for the ignition.... HOW DOES THIS WORK?! How can you make 2 different keys from 1 key...and it work 2 different things?

2) Buy 2 Punto MK1 keys off ebay and then Introduce them to my single red key....WTF?! Are they already going to be cut the same as my red key? Also, how do i introduce them all to eachother?

3) Get in touch with FIAT and get them to send 2 blue keys to me.... Again, are they just going to know how the key is cut and will send out matching ones so that they can pair with my red one? Again, how do i 'Introduce' them to eachother.

4) Finally, a guy said that he was just going to buy one of the £25 Remote Central Locking kits from Ebay and then he wont have to worry about what key is what.... How is the remote central locking gonna work with haveing 2 totally different keys for the car?

Thanks in advance for the help, i know you guys will help me out.
