lol... maybe if i could get the immobiliser to deactivate i'd have a chance.

seriously, the wiring afaik is all spot on, checked about 6 different guides and project threads and followed the wiring word for word and checked it a hundred times, the ecu, box, key and antenna are all from the same running car so unless they posted the wrong code box or ecu (which given they only had one car in of that sort, is unlikely), all the earths have been cleaned, even ran an individual earth from the code box as a test and it didn't work.

Even gave up and plugged in the original cinq box, antenna and 8v ecu and key, that isn't deactivating that immobiliser either, so HAS to be wiring (unless the 8v ecu is wired up slightly differently)

totally stumped tbh.

both ecu are wired the same way to the code box.

have you jsut got it tapped togeather? or have you got the correct barrel too?

you can get some places to read the code from the box and key to tell you if the match. failing that just de-code your ecu??

there are only three wires though. and i beleive the one in question is purple/black??? the feed for yay or nay.

sorry black/purple is earth. red is posi and grey/green is the code signal.

the code eror can weirdly be caused by a bad connection in the relays near the ecu. i beleive i had to clean them up once to get it to work.

but also the antenae isnt needed although argued i used my original one on the new code box ect and it worked.... give it a try incase the antenae is broken

oh and i take it youve checked the fuel cut off switch?

i've got the barrel, not wanting to use that long term, but been using it for test purposes.

the fact it isn't even deactivating on the 8v ecu is a worry, suggests that the issue is deeper in the wiring and decoding probably won't solve it to me?

mabee. but the wiring has only been changed fromt he D4 connector to the engine. so id definatly check all that?. get the pinout for the ecu and code it directly to that.

i know you will have double checked it all but this is mings.... we wired it up as it says on three different cinq and they all worked first time. so definatly correct.
Punto -> Cento pin numbers on D4 plug not ECU
Black Red - Bullet connector
Grey yellow - pin 6
pink yellow - Not use
thin grey green - pin 9
Thick orange - Orange. This one doesn't have a pin number but is 2 row right of pin8
Thick red - No Use
Black - pin 8
Brow white - Pin 1 it doesn't say on the connector but is to the left of pin2
Blue - pin 3
Blue black - Pin 2
grey white - pin 7
grey black - no use

also on FF youve noted a grey/yellow wire. do you mean green yellow as i cant remember or find any info on a grey yellow

It all seems spot on around the d4, most are pretty much just dash lights, there isn't really that much to get wrong that would stop the car working, should add things like the horn, reverse light, oil sensor, battery light etc all work, the only thing (s) that aren't are the immobiliser (on either 16v or 8v setup) and i have no injector light, not sure if that's just the immobiliser again though

have you connected the red bullet connector under the battery tray? that supplies all power for ecu-carbody
yup, though i have wired it via a fuse onto the ecu casing, goes Bullet terminal>red/black>fuse>brown/black>Red/black

all powered inside, turns on starter etc.

That sounds right, but i'll check it again tomorrow using pins rather than colours, thanks :)

Decided if i can't find what's wrong that i'll rip the 16v loom out and build a stripped back test loom from what's left of the old 8v loom to use with the 8v ecu, key and code box. that means if i can get the immobiliser and fuel pump firing on that, then i can swap onto the 16v ecu kit to test that, if that all still works it nails it down to a fault in the loom, i can then trace the fault better on the 16v loom and worst case scenario, i'll be able to chop the "test" loom onto the 16v one to run the immobiliser system.

plan!

Problem solved!!

The wiring itself was "fine", the problem was the red/black to the bullet terminal, on mine, i'd wired it via a fuse on the ecu casing that was there before on the cinqs standard setup and the fuse had blown, wired it direct and it all worked first time!

Relieved :D

I'm frustratingly only one part away from it starting, just need the connector from the fuel pipe to the fuel rail

very much on the home straight though, it's "built", it's just fettling and adjusting... and painting from here on in
