Project Cinq!

Haha, i'll start it away from prying eyes and ears first!

have a couple of tiny concerns i might need to tweak and things i want to play with before anyone hears it :p

i know it's been ages since it was on the road, looked up last night and apparently it's last mot expired november 2011, can't remember exactly when it went off the road but seem to remember it did the glasgow meet (Just!, and was sounding and smelling very, very sick by then...as i'm sure anyone behind it can confirm with the blue smoke plumes :laugh :) , pretty sure i parked it in the garage pretty much as soon as i got home and it hasn't ran since. Turning it over on the starter earlier this week was the first time any of it had even moved under it's own power since 2011.

You can tell it's sat for ages, everything like the windows are all slow to work :D

Haha i'm aiming to get it out the garage tomorrow and do all the remaining jobs, I've got to prep and paint the new front wing so ideally i want a dry day to get the most i can done.

I'm aiming to get it into an MOT Wednesday.

well it's off it's axle stands and it has now driven..... 3 or 4 inches, but that was all i was aiming for, and it didn't break in that time, so all's good :D

the back sits a bit higher than i'd hoped for on the new springs, but hope they will drop another whack once they settle :) The front already looks awesome :D

have a few pics on my phone i'll upload. Nothing special though, will get pics when it's out the garage (hopefully tomorrow) :)

This one's gonna be a bit more pic laden

Started off with a mildly dented front wing very slightly the wrong shade

so sanded a little, filled and keyed it up, ready for..

3 coats later, i did this

But that was to be ready for today, as i left it last night, we had this sight.... down on it's wheels :D

But today was the big day, when this happened.... OMG LIGHT!!!

Note zee Germans attempts at being a Subaru

Just missing a few small pieces...

But i soon fixed that

hoping the rear drops a bit more once settled, meant to be a 40mm drop, looks nowhere near yet.... also note the squishy front tyre

IMG_1223.jpg

But anyway, it had a hood 45 minute run of the engine today, coolant bled lots of wee details and new jobs popping up :( not sure where it stands for MOT, i'll decide tomorrow.

Anyway, goodnight :D

A few updates, there's so, so little to do now.

There's a few absolutely fantastic bodges on this though, my personal favourite is the capri-sun straw acting as a washer hose connector :D

Basically the to-do list is...

fit front number plate
sort out side light (blown fuse from trying to bodge in universal bulb holders)
cable tie a few wires
jubilee the handbrake cable up
re-adjust clutch back a fraction... bite point just a bit too high from being a bit too low before, somewhere in the middle will do this time
put some petrol in
mot.

it's thrown a few last minute hissys but all checked over and seemingly fine, all being well it'll be on the road this week!

Thanks

Feel strange about it tomorrow, on one hand i'm probably the most nervous i've ever been about a car going in, the thoughts of "what if i've missed something stupid... what if something else stops it passing like emissions... after all that work", on the other hand i'm fairly confident in the respect that anything it could fail on can only really be that or minor stuff given how new most of it is, and i'm not worried about any kind of body corrosion because i've been over it all and there isn't any.

basically i'm not sure what the hell to feel!

Probably best not......

deliberately stayed off to calm down.

i think i got quite possible some of the most ridiculous/outrageous fail points on any mot ever, and to add insult to injury, i got a "very" broken car handed back to me.

has anybody ever heard of a car failing...yes, FAIILING because your ecu diagnostic port touches your air filter housing? How the **** is that a safety issue?

or how about your fuel filter being able to move less than 1mm in a padded rubber bracket? It's clamped, where the **** to they think it can go or rub through?

Or maybe an "innproperly repaired handbrake cable" that'll be that brand new one that not only has never been repaired, but passes handbrake tests no bother?

it had a couple that were fair enough fail points, plus dreaded emissions :( but it's the nonsesnse fail points that REALLY got to me, not even advisories, fail points!

oh, then there's the **** attitude i got when i challenged the nonsense points, clearly have a major downer on modified cars....sorry, i mean tampered with ****.

that was before i found they'd broke it ****ing banzaing it off the limiter multiple times for long periods on the emissions test, where is that in the mot handbook?

just gutted tbh, angry, tired, gutted. Already repaired a lot of it but need to do loads tomorrow :( i'll update better then.
