thats how i want the holdiay so i can clean it aswell :D
but ill be at the garage tomorrow as i have the new locks to fit and i want to see if the pit bike will fir in the corollas boot :D

ok, im stumped, inlet gasket.........short of buying a full HG kit, i think im more likely to find a hens tooth that an inlet gasket!

still waiting on the head coming back from the machinist, expect a rather large update around the weekend though ;)

Is the gasket dry, but just torn? I have used "Blue Hylomar" instant gasket without any problems in the past on this type of mating surfaces.

the gaskets totaly disintegrated now from the inlet being on and off so often

i have a plastic type gasket as a potential emergency replacement, but i dont trust them tbh

"Plastic type gasket" Aah this is probably a "thermal insulator" designed to keep the heat from the engine away from the inlet manifold to keep the incoming fuel charge as cool as possible, is it about 3mm thick? I have used one on the Spider.

Better to use this if you can, you could use this with a smear of Blue Hylomar either side.

it's a really strange thin plastic, possibly only 1-2mm thick. really flexible but doesnt have much if any "squash" to it like a regular type gasket, so yeah if i used that it'd have to be with sealant i think :) i just dont trust that sort of gasket though when it relies on another seal being applied beyond it, really is last resort stuff if i have to use it, looks like im going to have to though, i can't get an inlet gasket anywhere :( fiat dealership say the minimum time it will take for them to get it is a month, could be 3 or 4 months though.

i'm even struggling to get a whole HG kit tbh with it included, in all honesty i dont like the gasket i have, does anyone know anything about Glaser Gaskets? spanish made, in all honesty i don't think it feels great quality, so would rather keep that aside as an emergency spare

If I were in your situation I would use the plastic insulator with sealant either side, and order up a gasket in the mean time. Does the inlet manifold carry any coolant through it?

yeah, it has a coolant channel in the spi so to change again i'd need to drain the coolant, refill, re-bleed to fit another gasket

not really a hard job buts still another task i'd like to avoid doing again if need be :) would rather just get it all right first (well, second time :laugh :) this time :)

No motor factor in Dundee will sell me one  the ones i know of only have mpi ones

It's ridiculous how hard it is to get car parts in general, i don't get why everywhere is strictly trade/buisness account only :(
Best thing is how you get a trade account, show receipts from trade purchases....how can you do that if you can't get to buy anything to start with?
