Hi can I just replace the rubber instead of the whole unit on the drivers side upper engine mount it doesn't seem firm enough so for what it costs I think I will replace it because it feels spongey also will it need the engine supporting TIA

What are we trying to achieve

If the petrol engine is running correctly there's no vibrations, knock or bangs

It's perfectly happy driving down country lane

You normally only want to stiffen them on a race car

Polybush do some inserts to strengthen the top mount

Pretty sure when they were rallying the panda they used standard mounts, , the cup cars from 2005 were as I have seen all the part that were used layed out on the floor I am 95% sure there's no engine or gearbox only the dog bone one, but these are extreme cars with 3x the power, LSD, 6 speed sequential gearbox and so on

Hi koaler I'm trying to eliminate clutch judder in 1st and reverse I have had a new clutch fitted last week but the judder is still there maybe the engine mounts need renewing the one at the back dog bone I believe looks new the top one on the drivers side I've poked my fingers inside and it feels quite soft I was thinking maybe if I replaced the 2 parts it might help eliminate the judder mainly because I can't think of anything else because the garage never mentioned anything about the flywheel or anything else

The lower arm rear bushes are usually a good place to start for clutch judder pulling away from a stop. The front legs move backwards and forwards quite a bit when they're worn out.

Reverse is more likely to be the one over the gearbox side if it's a mount

Was the clutch changed because of the judder

Did they check the input shaft for play

Is it worse, better or the same before and after the clutch

Is it worse if you release the clutch slowly

Is the engine idling smoothly

Is it only when the car is stationary

Is it very violent

Ps is the gearbox mount underneath the gearbox
Its directly on top of the gearbox,

Picture is from a 500 but it near enough the same

Only known to be an issue when reversing, usually worse if it's up a slope

Only when the car stationary, worse if the clutch is lifted slowly

Best guess without checking anything is

Either the input shaft is wiggling around because the bearing gone, there is usually some associated rattling in neutral

Or @irc suspension arm

Back shortly phones dead

Engine off

Put your finger in here and feel if the inside is wet with oil

If you have a someone to help you have them set off and brake while you watch the wheel in the wheel arch for backwards and forwards motion

Or put a long wrench on one of the wheel nut and push and pull on it while looking for excessive movement of the wheel

Or jack up so a front wheel is off the ground

Shine a light at the rear bush on the lower suspension arm

Push and pull hard alternatively on the tyre at the 3 and 9 o'clock I use my knees at the front of the tyre and hands at the back

Just looked at clutch rod coming out of the gearbox it is slightly rusty would that effect the clutch at all
I have found thqt juddering has resulted from teh cylinder being sticky. I would do it at they are only £25 and the differenceis sublime. Pnadas seem to get juddery as these things are begining their downhill slide into oblivion. Some may say it wont make a difference to judder but I have found on three Pandas it does seem to be a contributor. The pushrod may look crusty but not in itself of much importance other than an indicator thatbteh whole thing is aging. Its an easy job to do, I think I may have done a guide on here that may help a little.
