Linkage was falling off so I took the wiper unit off and drilled holes and inserted a split pin in each - cost me nothing.
you buy from the new or old suplier?omg! I just brought a set of those 30 pound jobies a few months back and last week the freaking passenger linkage fell off whilst driving considerably fast on the motorway!! Oh whilst is was raining cats and dogs!!
I thought they were the perfect solution but guess I was wrong.
How reliable is the complete motor set? has anyone brought one and fitted it?
I dont want to go and waste £65 and find that the linkages will drop out again after 6 months usage!!
Either that, or I'll just have to weild the existing ones back on!!
HELP!!!!!
What about a genuine Fiat Linkage?
atleast that will give you 12 months warranty!
I am well willing to do a very reasonable deal on one to reduce my leaning tower of them!
This new kit is so easy to fit any one can do it
get a long flat screw driver put it near end of old linkage near black rubber rings, tap end of screw driver with palm of hand and it will knock the old linkage off.
start with fitting new ones to passenger side wiper, simply use wire or rope around it to pull it onto ball, then put other end on to ball on motor with a set of grips, then put the drivers side one onto the motor.
then turn wiper on with ignition off, then turn ignition on for a nanno second so passenger wiper stops in the middle of screen.
you can now move the drivers wiper by hand so you have access to the ball on bottom.
now use the rope again to pull the last bit on to the ball and the job is done
no need to remove wiper arms or scuttle panel

i will also contact them an see if we can get them a little cheaper from their website as they wont have no ebay fees to pay then.

Im just gonna buy a new car tbh. Can't be arsed with punto's now.

Now, its been raining a lot since, and its lasted fine. My questions being a) how reliable / likely is the "temp fix" and b) whats the cheapest best way of "properly" fixing this. As many of the replys confuse what the first page appears to make out a simple fix.
Any help is apriciated.![]()
I got some washers from B&Q (see attached photo) which cost about 99p. The one thats missing is in use; with the linkage in place, slip it over the bottom end of the spindle and work it up a couple of mil and its will hold in the 'cutaway'; basically the spindle's diameter is narrower a coupe of mil up - this has held for a couple of weeks where as before the linkage was falling off every 2 or 3 wipes.
