So my ankle is royally ****ed up and that's the running programme put back at least a couple of weeks if not more. I'm following the RICE protocol in the hope of speeding things up however I'm going to have to be patient and wait until my ligaments have healed properly. Gawd knows when that will be though.
Looking on the bright side though I'm at a point in work where taking time off won't **** things up too much so I won't feel guilty if I decide to not to go in tomorrow.
Had an appointment with the physio last night and the good news is my ankle is well on the mend. I can start with the strengthening exercises from tomorrow and try running again in 10 days time. Physio reckons I'll get back up to speed fairly quickly and should still be able to do the Baker Hughes 10k.
Ok ive just had my first gym session after a ten hour work day, only done 50 mins but im pretty happy, 200 calories down, i know its not alot but i dont really know what im doing, and i was sweating like a bitch lol
See, I've kinda varied my times. First couple of sessions were an hour or so, then I did a couple of 1.5 hr's then cut back on Sunday to just 50 minutes on the treadmill. I did fit in a proper 30 mile cycle last saturday though so kinda figured I need to let the body recover a bit!
Will be stepping up my excercise/cycling with what I have in mind though!
Surprisingly, it isn't. I work funny hours, so going in after work at 1am is a good way to wynd down after a hectic day (assumign Im off the next day!)
It's also hella quieter - you get peace to just get on with it and use pretty much any equipment you want! Win win, really!
Some idiot has thought it a good idea to buy a machine that measures the rancidity of fats and the entire building now smells like a chippy. It's too early to be craving chips
Oh dear! We had a competition winner take in funcy pieces yesterday.. I gave in. Went for a cycle last night though, and might well hit the gym tonight.
After a very overindulgent weekend I need to start doing this again. Starting from today I'm back to cutting out crisps, chocolate and alcohol in the week and introducing exercise back into my daily routine. Not necessarily running as my ankle still isn't 100% but I'll think of something. Mind you, digging the garden for several hours yesterday definitely counts as exercise in my book although I'm not sure it'll compensate much for the bbq, roast dinners and easter eggs consumed at the weekend.
Uh oh..haven't been doing so good of late, no cycling and little gym activity. Plus eating assorted bad stuff again.
So from tonight, the fizzy drinks are out again (the few that I've had anyway!) and no more takeaways! Been to the gym twice this week and it felt like an eternity since I'd last been.
