Just in case anyone has missed this information FS is 10 years old on Saturday 3rd May

The site was started in 2004 by Martyn who has successfully run it in all that time during which we've amassed nearly 100,000 posts and attended goodness knows how many meets, shows and events. Our collective membership has helped fix numerous fiats and given advice on other car-related matters. We have over 80 threads in our project section some which have sadly gone by the wayside, some of which are still running and others which are only just starting and will hopefully continue to run for a long time.

We've shared good news, bad news and sometimes completely pointless news (I hold my hand up to this one :laugh :) . We've talked music, movies, jokes, gaming and also complete ********... We've congratulated many new parents and welcomed members both young and old into the fold.

This is one of my favourite sites and I'm not just saying it as staff. You've taught me a hell of a lot about cars and given me many other things to think about. I thank you all and hope we have another 10 years.

Moving on to the reason for this week's poll.

To celebrate our 10-year anniversary some of us are heading over to the west coast to drive what may possibly be the most fun and challenging road in the UK followed by attending the vintage car show at Forres. Understandably not everyone is able to attend this but it would be nice to think you'll all be marking the occasion in your own way. So with that in mind tell us all what you will be doing the weekend of the 3rd/4th. Note multiple answers are allowed

P.S. I did ask Martyn to provide a bit of background info on why he started FS but this is a bit War & Peace as it is so I'll let him tell you in a separate post.

pfft war and peace indeed!! :D

Basically, I was aware of FF when I got my first car - a mk1 Punto.

The issue, as I saw it at least, was a lack of activity in Scotland - very simply that's what lead to FS. In case you're wondering exactly when the site lanuched it was something like 7.30am on the 3rd May. I'd just finished a nightshift at the local ASDA and had half an hour to kill before I turned in for the night/day - there and then FS, like many of my decisions, was launched on a whim.

Perhaps unsurprisingly there are quite a few folk to thank from the early days - Mikey and Helen who were there on day one (Mikey managed to organise our first RR day within six months of the site launching!)

Dave and Steve, our very first mod team and of course all our admin/staff since: from memory that includes Simon16v, Mark, PuntoSporting, Steve119, Muppet, Clock, James, Neeny, Rich, MrCento, Scoop, Harper, Stuarty, Mike and anyone who I've forgotten (really sorry if I have, google doesn't seem to cache all of our former/present staff sadly!)

Here's to the next ten years, eh!
