Sammi and I went to see The Break Up on Friday.
It had some bits that were very funny, and even made Sammi laugh. And it had some bits that made the woman next to me (the other side) bawl with tears.
Ultimately though, I was happy as it had Jennifer Aniston in it. :)

I have read mixed reviews on it, seems C Farrell went to rehab midway through and the film has been recut a thousand times.

My Dad is saying it will be cr*p but he assumes it will just be some feature length oldie but wht does he know? LOL

I expect quality from Mr Mann and Colin and Jamie so role on Friday!

I hope there won't be the plethora of children in most film screenings these days, pah it's a fifteen, hopefuly a noon screening will avoid the young nedettes going to salivate over the actor and young neds going to pick up some tips for the street.

Hmmm so no one commenting on MV then, well I watched it 4th August, just been on hols so not had a chance to give it a write up yet.

So lets first of all say this is a film Directed by Michael Mann who created the original TV series or directed it I dunno but anyway I thought that made it a bit more credible. He is also the Director of Heat, Manhunter, LA Takedwon, Collateral and Ali now this is the bit where Miami Vice may fall foul for some folks, IMO Mr Mann is selfish in his directing and does films to suit him and not a wide audience so it's an accquired taste to watch the stuff he does.

Anyway the film for me well I can't decide just know whether I liked it or not, I'd like to see it again because of two things, a lot of of the dialogue was either inaudible due to a loud backing track/SFX or so heavily accented that it was unintelligble so I think I maybe missed a bit of the story and the other is that there is a huge portion of the film where nowt really happens kinda like Heat IYKWIM so I thought this could have been trimmed somewhat but that is just the Directors fault.

So until I see it again, the Jury is out really for me anyway, anyone else see it?

i'm with you liam, i just couldnt make out anything for about an hour, whats worse is that because of the various subplots and stories, you have no idea how they all mesh, and by the end, you dont care, which even in heat you felt something for de niros mcauley.

poor effort

A friend of mine was gutted that he wasted 2 hours of his life watching Miami Vice.

Sammi and I went to see Cars the other week. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but like most Pixar films, you can't help but like it. Sammi is now even more than ever obsessed with Fiat 500s... (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

So what next after Superman, Miami Vice and Davinci Code?

Spiderman 3 and Transformers seems quite a bit away.

Wonder if I've missed any upcoming gems?

snakes on a plane (sam jackson mofo)
sentinel (diet 24)
volver (penny cruz gets them out..........nice)

Agreed on the diet 24 bit, a by the numbers mild thriller by the looks of the trailer especially with Eva Longoria in it!

Snakes on a plane, want to see it but GF doesn't she hates snakes, I want to put a toy one in her bed:devil:

Don't fancy any of the others.

Having a look around and I've found a few average looking films coming up

The Covenant - Supernatural Teen Horror

The Quiet - Thriller

School for Scoundrels - Comedy

Texas Chainsaw Massacre -The Beginning a sort of prequel to the remake which I really liked.

The Departed - Great cast, kinda cop flick, might be really good.

The Marine - Seemingly starring "John Cena" some Wrestler in an old school type action flick, enjoyable I reckon if you suspend disbelief and hit the popcorn.

I must include Night of the Living Dead 3D! It looks good from the trailer.

The Return - another supernatural thriller this time with SMG.

I could go on but I'll give the searching a rest for the mo.

forgot to put on here that we did actually go see miami vice  oops

anyway - i havent seen any of the other miami vice, am too young :D so had nothing to compare it to.

but i quite enjoyed it i think only things that was wrong with it was it was slightly too long but the ferrari was

went to see pirates of the carribean (sp?) dead mans chest on monday night, think it was a bit of an unecessary film imo because it just kind of filled a gap and set the story for a third one. and i think it was about two and a half hours long :( but as usual curiosity will get the better of me and will want to see the third one, but of course they never thought of that when they made it  :)

there were quite a few films advertised but i cant remember many of there names but the snakes on a plane thing looked freaky  i would never get on a plane again if i sat through that.

another which looked like it would be interesting is the World Trade Center with Nicolas Cage. would like to see that one, think it will be interesting to see how they have approached the issue in the film and iirc it has been viewed by some of the families involved to ensure they felt it was appropriate for release.

Delved even further into the release schedule and picked out these:

Deja Vu - Denzel is a Anti Terrorist Agent attempting to stop a bomb in a Tony Scott or is that Ridley well I can't remember and Deja Vu has some bearing on the plot, bit ROTM looking for me but Denzel is usually a good draw.

Night at the Museum - Recent Cinema goers may have seen this advertised, Ben Stiller as a night watchman in a Museum (no ****!) and the exhibits come to life, predominatley comedy stuff.

White Noise: The Light - Who liked the first one? Not me, more tosh I predict.

Teenage Mutant Niga Turtles - All done in CGI

Fantastic Four & The Silver Surfer - I liked the 1st one, this should be quite good too.

The Simpsons Movie yes the Movie - Enough said.

Rush Hour 3 - Third Installment of Jackie and Chris.

The Bourne Ultimatum - Where have you been ifyou don't have a clue what this is about!!!

Live Free or Die Hard - Die Hard 4 to you and me, Bruce or should that be John returns to save the day from a Techno Terrorist hellbent on crippling the countries computer systems.

Harry Potter Something - Don't like the films, fans should know the full title.

The Hitcher - Remake of the 1986 classic shocker.

Halloween - Remake of what I describe as a seminal horror flick and one I will be very interested in seeing.

AVP :Survival of the fitest - oh no not more tosh, god save us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.comingsoon.net/ was the source.

Not mentioned on there but somewhere I read that hopefully a second Stargate film is in the pipeline as well as a second X-Files movie, lets see huh.

snakes on a plane:

you've heard the hype, dreaded it arrival, and feared yet another turn in the spiral of banality that hollywood is diving down.....who cares?

it's fun, stupid, no brainer, guilty pleasure.

cute kids? check
plucky cabin staff? check
mum and baby? check
redneck pilot? check
bolshie brit? check
horny teens? check
honeymooners? oh yes....they get it bad.....

all the cliches, money for old rope, bits of passenger 57 (a classic btw), jurrasic park, every teen slasher flick, and sam jackson, playing....sam jackson, what more could you ask for.

if you're looking for a movie about the fragilty of existence, in the face of the fury of nature....this still hits the spot like a kurasawa arrow to the sternum.
