General Fiat 500F rejuvenation

A little bit more top coat off.. Slowly slowly. Just dry scraping this as I found the top coat is not holding on very tightly so I can use less fumy stripper this way.

I got a lot more paint off today and then found the filler! The same rear right panel that needs work anyway has a large dent in it above the wheel arch. I think based on how messy the panel is, the best course of action will be to get a replacement panel.

So to the online shops I go to start seeing who has the cheapest postage to Australia. (I might get a new bonnet while I'm at it since both of the ones I have need work.)

A little bit of Murphio colour peeking through under the dark Blue.

All the best 500s have a bit of blue blood. ;)
Is the dented rear quarter otherwise OK and good at the wheelarch edges. If so I would check if anyone could tidy that up and even weld in a repair section. Your car body has such integrity that I would want to keep the original panel and welds etc.

I have enjoyed reading all of the other resto threads so thought I should do the same.

In regards to the panel, I did wonder about trying to repair but it is damaged around the top of the wheel arch and also split down the edge near the door so it seems I will get a better result by replacing it.

Or I can replicate the beautifully crafted sculpture using body filler again.

This is what a really creased rear quarter panel looks like..IMG_1471854039.347996.jpgIMG_1471854067.983547.jpg, mine had more hits than Pink Floyd

Finished getting paint off all the big areas. Left hand side was in better condition. Just a bit of filler here and there hiding small dents.

The car is nearly ready to go to the Sandblaster to finish off the edges, engine bay and inside. I just need to take the cables, steering and roof lining out.

Roof lining out now. And cables as well. Will try to get to the blaster next week. Also a new RH rear panel and bonnet are on their way from Germany.

Dropped the car off for blasting today.

This will give me a chance to tidy the garage a bit and sort out what other new bits and pieces I might need. Time to start a list.

New bonnet arrived today

One question. Have people who used these replacement panels removed the black paint before priming again, or just primed over the black?
