My Panda Cross engine management light (with yellow warning triangle ) recently came on for no reason followed by the ESC light , neither can be erased with a fault finder device, the car starts and runs below it usual power and has now started to rev up when stationary and when the brake pedal is pressed ! The engine revs at tickover like it’s ‘hunting’ until you drive off , things steady up after a short distance ,but I’ve noticed the fan started running when the engine was cold and switched off flattening the battery, I didn’t realise that the fan had been running until I discovered the fault in the morning, I’ve fitted a new battery and that issue hasn’t recurred,
Booked in a fault diagnostic session with FIAT Nottingham (£144 .00 for the hour ) anyone with similar problems and answers ? Thank you in anticipation. The Panderer.

Looking through @Panderer old posts it looks like they have a 2016 multijet

Which fits as most 169 don't have the yellow triangle

ESC reving and yellow triangle have been linked to a faulty brake switch in the past

Sounds like an engine fault reader will not help to much, it's likely you need to connect to the body computer instead

Multiecuscan
Delphi
WOW
Examiner
Or similar

Hopefully FIAT Nottingham will soon have it purring again

Many thanks for all your input, sorry for not putting all relevant information in last night , very wound up with it !
I shall wait and see what the FIAT garage comes up with as they will have all the manufacturers software they can access , I’m hoping it’s not going to make me lose faith in the vehicle as up to now it’s been good.
Car is a Panda Cross 1.2 multi jet 2016. Winter pack etc.
The engine revving up when you press the brake pedal surprised the Fiat technician when I booked it in for the diagnostic test at the start of January . Once again your contributions make me hope that I won’t have to sell a kidney to get it back to rights. The Panderer

I will be using the Nottingham Fiat / Suzuki dealership . Booked in Jan 2nd 2024.
Is there anyone in the vicinity who can help?
Multi ecu scan is pretty good and easy to use for simple things. Its well worth thinking about it does a great deal more than a code reader and is specific to Fiats. There is a Forum for that too which has more useful tips and solutions as well, and of course its also a resalable item. Very much better to be able to go to a garage and say I think my car needs X y or z that just help.

Thanks for your input, my local garage plugged in their Snap On analyser and the first problem appears to be the clutch / brake ? Pedal sensor, I have ordered one to replace the item that seems to be failing, it’s an easy fix if you’re an ambidextrous contortionist of restricted growth . Watch this space. Panderer.

Taking a 7yr old Panda to a franchised Fiat dealer shouldn't be a reason to lose faith in the car.

It might, however, cause you to lose faith in the franchised Fiat dealer.

You'd do much better to buy, borrow or beg a copy of MES and see what that tells you. Failing that, take the car to an independent Fiat specialist.
