Technical 1.9JTD

Hi guys I actually own a Panda 169 1.2 8v 4x4
But I want to fut the 1.9JTD engine, does the engine need a ECU or is it still a mechanical setup?.
In other words, can I fit one without having a ecu to the engine,

Im pretty sure it will have an ECU, but am sure someone will confirm. I would check the weights of the engine too as its possibly going to be quite a bit heavier. I think its likely to be quite involved. Panda diesel would be a 1.2 multijet which would be technically less of a stretch. Good luck!!
