OK my persistence has finally paid off:
After months of head scratching, hours of labour and part changing, including:
Ignition switch immobiliser aerial receiver thingy
Crank sensor
Every relay
ECU
Keys
I think I might have sussed it, out of frustration I was pulling the immobiliser connecter in and out while cranking the engine and incredibly the Multipla fired into life, I repeated the process a few more times and it worked, i assumed through my non science based logic that it MUST be the immobiliser box located in the top of the dashboard.
I googled immobiliser repair near me and up came these guys in Wiltshire
http://www.ecudecode.co.uk
I had a chat with them on the phone and they asked me to send over the little immobiliser box and my ecu, they called the day they had received it and advised that the immobiliser box from the top of the dashboard (part number 46538523 was faulty, they told me they could bypass it in the ecu, i said go ahead, charge £165 all in, it arrived next day and I fitted the ecu and NOT the immobilser (no need for it anymore) The car fired up straight away and it continues to start on the button, I even sneak up on the Multipla and it still starts!!!!
I'm very happy with this result and can recommend the service I had from ECU Decode
Cheers
