Posts: 5 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | Digital speedo display? Car jerks at low speed. Hi All I recently bought a used Punto Evo 1.4 Dynamic S/A, its just been MOT'd and passed with only one advisory (exhaust back box has corrotion), I have also taken it in for a full service in which the mechanic found no issues. Couple of things: Firstly; is there a way to display your speed digitaly on the HUD? Ive looked through the menus but I dont see anything, seems a bit odd that it wouldnt display the cars current speed as it seems to display eveything else such as current gear, mpg etc. Secondly; I dont know why, but in first gear, and very lightly pressing the accelerator, moving forward very slowly, the car jerks and sort of bounces. This goes away once I increase speed a bit. Anyone have any idea as to why it is doing this? As I said its just had a full service and MOT. Thanks in advance.

Being a semi-auto, and having driven others, I assumed that this car would also creep forward when no brakes are applied, but my car doesnt move at all. Is this normal for this car or is there an issue causing it not to creep? Thanks

Thanks ![]() Its a manual that uses a Robot to work the clutch and gearlever So it wont creep.. and judder is a set.up issue it wants to be investigated

Its as if there is very little to no torque to pull the car. Is this car like that (being only 77bhp), or is this something I should get checked along with the judder at very low speed? Thanks

As I mentioned, I have driven other 'semi-autos' and all of them creep, both in drive and in reverse gear. I thought that perhaps there may have been an issue with the torque converter. I was out driving today, and noticed something else; when going up anny sort of hill, both the revs and speed plummit, it have to plant my foot just to maintain any sort of speed, speeding up is a no go up hill. Thanks So if your in a higher gear on a big hill you will need to drop down

I wonder why all other semi-autos ive driven creep...? ![]() It's a 1.4 with out turbo it produces little torque unless your at high ( rmp 3k + ) So if your in a higher gear on a big hill you will need to drop down Anyway, thanks for the replies.

As I said regarding the judder on take.off It probably wants checking for : Fluid level Error codes Bite point Search 'Kangarooing' on here for a LONG Semi.auto thread

![]() | Re: Digital speedo display? Car jerks at low speed. No way to display the speed on the digital part of the dash. They car has a speed dial right beside that display, sadly with fiats they don't label there dials very clearly and it can be hard to see/pick up the speed at a glance however you do get used to it. As Varesecrazy said its a robotic gearbox, The juddering, lack of power on hills and while it may not creep it should feel like its engaged and ready to go when you take your foot off the brake (hard to explain what I mean by this) basically in agreement with the above comments I think it needs checking over and to make sure that the clutch isn't worn out

The car seems fine on a flat surface, if somewhat a little sluggish on acceleration and gear changes, gear changes are also quite jumpy. Ah, too bad, but not a big deal. I've had the car in to the mechanic, who said he checked it over and took it for a test drive, and said he couldnt find any problems. He said I just have to put my foot down - which to be honest, I didnt find very helpful. Another issue I have since noticed is that when actually putting my foot down to get up to 60mph, I start to smell petrol. Also most of the time, the car is sluggish, but occasionaly, even when only pressing the accelerator normaly (which is usualy sluggish), the car just takes off and takes me by surprise. Could this be an issue with the fuel pump? Thanks again for the replies and sorry for the late response.

![]() | Re: Digital speedo display? Car jerks at low speed. Plenty of automatics out there that don’t creep. Some prefer creep, some don’t. It I had a choice personally I’d go for no creep. Rather anything that I can’t turn it off in my KIA Ev, yet in others like a Tesla you can, it’s and on / off option in the settings menu.

Any other system has a false creep induced by dragging clutches (on semi automatics) or secret throttle application (on electric cars). The fiat is a Single Clutch (semi auto) and would burn out in no time. Alfa, on the same chassis (Mito) has a Ferrari Dual Clutch (semi auto). Originally this didn't creep but in the 2015 update this was changed. If your experience is with the Volkswagen Group cars (Audi VW Skoda Seat) then the continued failures of their Semi Automatics ought to tell you something. The system breaks down because either they jerk or don't go when the accelerator is applied.
