lol, isn't that what I was suggesting!!! I mearly added that an easy entry to the car is through the window!(y)

you didnt say this website/car though. and also i am sure that these cars have alarms as standard, so if your going to smash the window, the alarm will go off.

I'd estimate about £300 - £600 just for repairs (Labour and parts)

App £35 per hour Labour @ 4 - 6 hours

Bumper £40 - £150 (Scrap - New)
Light Cluster £10 - 100 (Scrap - New)
Panel £40 - £120 (Patern Part - New Original)
Paint £30

If its getting beaten and filled labour will be more so add an extra 2 - 3 hours and deduct panel costs.

Call out would dependin on how far it would need to be towed. Isn't towing about £30 per Mile? never been towed so I'm guessing.

You could be looking at £800 or so, If you can get £1000 out of the guy then do it otherwise go through insurance.

Ah, but will disconnecting the battery leads work ?

Maybe do it the Clarkson way, like he did with that fuel thing earlier !!!

best way is probably - smash the window, somebody else opens the bonnet, then disconnect the battery leads.

Why not just bend the door open then when you're done dis-arming the alram bend it back? will be cheaper.

If the Alarm runs off a backup battery it will not be disabled like this, disconnect the siren if this should be the case.

Now have images in my mind of a few FF members standing around discussing how best to gain access to this poor car!!!

Hope Applesei' mate finds the key to this car!!!

I would have done, except i posted at 10.30pm where everything has closed being a sunday, and considering we have thousands of members i thought i would post see if there are any suggestions before we sort everything out in the morning and its been a good response and a price guide in mind :) If id sorted everything out earlier in the day i wouldnt have started this thread.

its a proton ffs, just go to local car auction with £50 and get a new one

might see a mk1 punto there n all, might get change from a 50 ;) :D :p

You could have just got a new key from Proton with the key code card if it hadn't been found.

As for the damage, I reckon a proper bodyshop will be over £1,500.00 easily. Personally I would let the insurance do it, becuase if the guy starts to cause trouble later the insurance will not be pleased that you didn't tell them about it.

If he needs transport, they will also rent him a car as well.

My feeling is they will write it off because the repair cost will be too close to the value of the car.

If it were at the front with all the Fog Lamps and Grills and Skirts etc then maybe but a rear knock shouldn't be that much.
EDIT: If it is 1) I woudn't pay and I dont think the van man will either 2) Insurance should have been notified within 24hours and they may feel to say "well, you didn't tell us in time so HA!"... sounds about right.

Nah I don't think they'll write it off, when my car was hit it was estimated at £1500 in repairs. Although it were never paid for in the end they did "try" to sort me out with repairs.

I think it is way too expensive, but from the small scrape we had on the back of the Ulysse it was over £1,500 inc VAT.

They may write it off and let him keep the car, so with the payout he could get it repaired outside the approved insurance garage group who will probably do a better job anyway.

I would really go through the insurance to make sure you get paid.

Well i have shown him this thread and he laughed especially when people started talking about the persona when he doesnt own that car and the way everyone was trying to break into it :p

However he aknowledges the usefulness of the thread and he is going down the insurance route now anyway :)
