Depends how much you want to pay, I bought a Floureon unit off of ebay, most of the 8ch boxes only comes with 4 cameras, but you can buy additional cameras for about £25-30 each (excluding cable). They don't have cloud storage, so I bought a WD Red 1TB HDD for it. They provide an app for your phone/tablet so that you can monitor it from anywhere, you can also set it up to alert you via email if it detects movement within specified areas (which you can 'draw' onto each camera feed). Very easy to set up and the 1TB of storage seems to hold about 2 weeks of HD feed from 4 cameras (obviously the more cams you add, the less days it will store).

thanks. do any come with cameras you can pan around from some where else? the Indian i go to has ones that move but i keep forgetting to ask them about it.
what worries me about on site storage is if some one breaks in they can just take the storage of the break in

Floureon seems cheap enough can i ad cameras that move to it or do they need a separate set up all together?
I don't know, I think they only do fixed cameras.

I had a setup in my old house which was an 8 channel recorder and 4 cameras they were fixed cams but i bought a separate PTZ internal dome camera which had the motorized function. This has cloud storage and also app for the phone i can use the cameras on the go once connected to the broadband but i can also record from my phone. pretty good set considering i paid 99euro for it off ebay.
They do exist and the app on my phone (android) is called XMEye im not sure what cameras can be used or what recorders connect to it. I can try root out the recorder and get the brand/name if you like as we've recently moved home and its not been set back up yet.

I have and like hikvision stuff.
I use a qnap nas as the network video recorder, but it starts getting expensive after 2 cameras as you have to buy licences for extra.
Better to go for a dedicated nvr and again the hikvision stuff is good.
Cameras are around £90 each for fixed 3mp. I use mine in 1080p and footage is great.
If you want pan/tilt zoom then you're looking at over £500 I think per camera.
I can view my camera footage live and playback anywhere in the world where I have data access on my phone or any pc.
It all works great and in March my setup help send a scumbag down for 4 years after the prick nicked my nav out of my Panda amongst other things.
It's more expensive than the other suggestion but I think the payoff is quality in the dark hours?

Pretty much exactly what we got so yeah, then if you need more cameras you can buy them separately (extra cables are sold separately too FYI as they come in varying lengths)

What is tvl? Is it the higher the number the better?

I can recommend a company called DDS who are located in Hinchingbrook Business Park near Huntingdon. I went to their premises but they also sell directly from their website.
I got a Vistron hard drive and two white dome cameras. If you visit them they have a lot of options set up and will show you what is available. They are very professional and the customer service was excellent. The wiring on one of the cameras developed a fault and they posted out a replacement first class without waiting for me to return the faulty one.
I live in a semi, in a cul de sac so one camera covers my driveway between my house and the bungalow next door and the other one covers the front of my house and the width of the entrance to the cul de sac, so I only really needed the two cameras as the back of the house borders other peoples gardens.
I was advised to get dome cameras rather than the bullet type as they cannot be lassoed off the wall.
The pictures attached are iPhone screen shots showing night vision mode. Total cost was £297.60. That included two extension bases to accommodate plugs and cabling. I bought mid range cameras, there was a slightly clearer option that was more expensive but I felt that this was adequate for my needs. I also bought one of these:

as the harddrive is not located anywhere near my router and it needs a connection for the mobile app.
I have it set up on one TV, my iPad and two iPhones the system can also be set up on a Windows computer but we only have Macs and its not compatible.
I hate seeing cables all over the outside of the house so we just drilled right through the wall and screwed the camera over the drilled hole. The cables come into the house and are hidden under the bedroom carpet between the underlay and gripper.
The hard drive can take 2 more cameras if needed. Make sure to check the cameras distance capability as some of the cheaper ones have a really short range and terrible night vision. Mine have 25m range.

so i got the Floureon and also the plug in netwok things from maplins that modette linked to.
box is set up plugged into 2 cameras atm and Ethernet going to one of the plug in things another plug in thing is connected to router.
think I've installed all the software, don't know how to view cameras on pc downstairs, screen shots of what device manager that came with it and some other screen shots, i don't have a clue what i do next.

Your CMS is a different version to mine so I can't really help, what I can say though is that I have a group defined in the Devices panel (your first screenshot), but I don't remember how I added that, right click maybe?
