V-Power?

V-Power?

I've used Tesco 99 Momentum and Esso's Supreme fuel, I found that Esso felt worse than V-Power but I couldn't tell the difference between Momentum 99 and V-Power.

Between those two I prefer V-Power just because AFAIK V-Power doesn't have as much ethanol in it as the Momentum stuff, plus the Tesco's station nearest me is crap anyway. (fuel all over the floor and pump handles etc) The Shell station on the other hand is just a nicer place to fill up.

I certainly agree with that last bit...! I have to travel over ten miles to get to our nearest non-independent (i.e. exorbitantly priced) petrol station. The nearest (by a mile or so) is Shell: which always has the same staff on duty; now has attendants (which, as someone who's disabled, makes life marginally easier, when they're around...); and is always pretty much spotless.... (They also do pretty good sandwiches...!) (y)

I guess what goes with this is a feeling that the fuel will also be of a consistent quality (although that could be seen as an emotional response; but Shell's promotional material certainly also appeals to my logical side, Jim...).

Anyhoo: as a result of your post (and Ziggy122's), I may well give the Tesco stuff a go, though... -- although I am not a fan of them either as a grocer or fuel retailer.... :(

This makes no sense to me, I must admit: and had assumed that I would find some happy medium. Perhaps I need to try it for longer than a month; or go back to running just on V-Power (which is probably the sensible solution, given the overall lower cost per mile... -- it just seems so expensive, each time you fill up: and then the logic overrides my emotional side...)

Must be getting much better mpg than on standard then at 8p a litre more its about a 5 more per fill up, so if I run it for two months (four fill ups for me which I plan to I reckon so I can get a good feel for it on fuelly) I'll be paying 20 quid more if there are no efficiency savings. Not hugely bothered about the cost but will be an interesting experiment...well as far as mpg goes.

Been using Vpower in my Grande Punto T-Jet for about 3 months straight now, always feels a lot smoother and MPG holds consistently at around 37 vs usual 33-34 on normal fuelsave. Just feels better in general despite cost.

Have you worked out the cost per mile...? My guess would be that it's probably a little less (i.e. better!) on the V-Power: considering you're getting a roughly 10% improvement in economy for (at going rates, around here, anyway) only a 6% increase in cost per litre....

Oh yes, hence being happy with it, plus double points on the shell card too so get around a £15 voucher every quarter! :)

Didn't mean to sound like a negative if it did ;)

Ee, by 'eck. Born in Liverpool; grew up in Blackburn and Darwen. Still wearing clogs, I was, 'til I moved to Middle England...! Now I'm all posh, like.... ;)

I find I have to wear my Sunday clogs more often now that I live in the south - they really don't like the sound my clogirons make as I walk along the pavement so i had to take the irons off my work clogs - worn tyres cut to shape & screwed on really work a treat, make walking much more enjoyable - even providing good grip & stopping in the wet :D
Allus used to buy them from Walkley's in Hebden Bridge (It's probably some sort of museum these days, demonstrating how clogs used to be made & flogging them as plantpot holders or some such tat)

Well got to the end of the 1st tank full, and 3.7 mpg up on last tank and my best mpg since I started using fuelly at 42.3 which isn't bad for a 100 odd hp 1.5 petrol being driven in a mixture of city and the odd bit of open road. Tbf official figures for my car is 44-5mpg on a combined cycle so nearly up there, few long trips in summer and I'd be heading mid 40s.

I haven't tried V-power, but when I bought my Stilo a week ago, the guy had Tesco fuel in it. It was averaging about 35mpg. I filled up with Shell normal unleaded, and now I'm averaging 37.5mpg.

I've always thought it was the case previously, and always use Shell, but this is the first time I've ever had an mpg gauge. All of the cars I've driven all seem to run better on Shell vs the supermarket fuel or Texaco.

Hadn't noticed that...!

Wait... I think it may be only 100...

I'm not too sure about this, I will give it ago of course, see if it does anything noticeable but I suspect that the 99 octane or whatever the regular V-Power is is more than enough for my little fiats engine so performance wise probably zero, economy, maybe a difference.... we'll see....

Wait, what? 37 MPG?! What sort of mileage are you doing? I struggle to get an average 30 MPG in my T-Jet and i use V-Power! I get 31 MPG on motorway driving.
