So.... He's going to be "phasing in" the increases in fuel duty... Why didn't the badger look-a-like scrap them?

Booze is going up again  Fags are too :D

Cider is being attacked! 10% more and even more than that on the chav ones

Budget's irrelevent. The tories will probably get in with a hung parliament and so produce a new budget. The lib dems will probably be the most powerful despite being third as both the tories and labour will be courting them. Anyone remember the Lib-Lab Pact of the late 70's?

i know, even with the feeble collecting gold attempts and other inccentives, we are officially a 3rd world country now in terms of national debt to other countries. so does this mean we are in for a VERY long term of high taxes on everything etc?

i know how to get the economy rolling again, and it will only cost 60million pounds. which is nothing compared to our debt. give everyone in the country whos a taxpayer a million pounds (read the rest before laughing), people will start spending, buying houses, investing, saving, jobs will be created, our economy will rocket in strength nationally and intrnationally, and think of the countries morale? surely there will be a negative to this, but i actually cant see any, can anyone else?

Did you mean 60 english billion pounds? To give each UK citizen at millions pounds will cost 60 million million pounds, which is a huge amount of money, far eclipsing the debt. The debt is quoted in the US billion pounds, which is only 1000 million.

woops , sorry, that was a bad calcuation, ok what about a hundred thousand?
my base point is they need to get people spending, and for that to happen the people need money, so why not give the people money and incentives,
instead they are taxing an extra 1p to the pound for NI every month :bang:

Are we supposed to be pleased that Darling and Brown have done such a good job that we as a country will "only" be spending £167 Billion next year more than the Government takes in. £167 Billion more borrowing in 1 year!!!!!

I was referring to the fact that US billion is considerably smaller than a Olde English billion. The national debt is ridiculous, we had nearly cleared debts from WWII, and then this happens.

And Iceland should damn well pay up if they ever want anyone to invest there again. Thieving scum!

****s sake!

Petrol is already at stupidly high levels, i know the goverment will complain they're not causing this, but the oil price is not that high at the moment and they're doing nothing to stop the ridiculous prices.

Cider duty up by 10% WHY!?!?! :bang:

dont worry about it people, cosnervatives will be in in a few weeks time (y),
although i think that they are probably going to stick to the same budget labour have outlned

The Torys being in is a good thing? David Cameron is Tony Blair mark 2- promises the earth to get in and then in 10 years we'll want him out too. A party with a tree logo will help the motorist out too....

I personally don't like Labour or the Torys be good if they got real nationwide competition but this is very reminiscent of 1990's when we had a recession, everyone hated the people in power, John Major was disliked and thus voted for the other mob. It just goes round and round does history....

On the budget, nothing major really today- guess my VED drop on April 1st is eaten into by increase in fuel but at least it is only 1p. Cider has seen drops in tax recently so no surprises it is hit and tobacco again no surprises.

im far from liking tories, but their the only party that will get in, and i dont want to watse my ovte on less popular smaller parties, as its a wasted vote. tories will be jut as bad a labour, but we need labour out, and not voting for the tories is in essence giving your vote to labour.

Can i ask if anyone is voting labour?? if so WHY??!!??

I'll be 'wasting' the vote. Not voting Tory because I don't like Cameron- a total media PR guy getting airbrushed photos and other nonsense. He's a politician not a celebrity, too much like Tony Blair for me and I don't trust Osbourne with the economy either.

Labour will win here no fear anyway- always do, but I'll probably vote SNP or Lib Dem- I feel the Lib Dems have one of the few people who understand the economy and spotted the recession.

To be honest the Conservatives over Labour is like being told you've won the lottery but are too late to claim the prize. Can't say I'm chuffed about either.
