Solar watch which I’ve had for years recently gave up, the capacitor was no longer working, ( rechargeable battery) These things cost silly money to replace if you use so called experts. I sent away for watch repair tools off eBay, and with much searching for days managed to find an appropriate capacitor. Success, fiddly but watch now working just for a few quid Also changed the dud battery in my Seiko watch. Little things seem to buck the spirits somewhat...
I took a Seiko Kinetic watch to a so called specialist (many years ago now) and the “specialist” got grit in the mechanism, resulting in the watch stopping work after about a month, and the mechanism making a horrible grinding noise when you moved your hand. I now have a seiko solar to replace it, but 99.999% of the time I wear my Apple Watch so the nice watches don’t get any love
