Grande Punto Replacing the Headlight, side light and indicator bulbs...

Right First locate the tab on the rubber cap and pull it off (and don't loose it)



Next grab hold of the black multi plug and wiggle and pull to remove it (if it wont budge go to the bottom of this page)



Now the multiplug is off its time to release the bulb (at this point look into the headlight and make a mental note of how the bulb sits)




now to free the bulb

the bulb is held in place be a piece of sprung wire which is retained by a small hook at the top of the light unit,



to release press the top of the clip towards the front of the car then push it to the left (as if your stood at the front of the car)




Once released push it down and out of the way



now you can pull the bulb out......

Now for the new bulb

DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ONLY HANDLE BY THE METAL BASE IF YOU DO TOUCH THE GLASS CLEAN WITH METHYLATED SPIRIT OR IPA

slowly slide the new bulb home making sure the bulb sits properly in the bulb holder the 3 tabs on the metal base will only sit in one position if your having problems look through the lens and line it up visually then wiggle slightly till it drops in place

Next lift up the wire and push in and to the right so it locates under the hook

Push on the black plug ensuring the 3 terminals line up

and refit the cap.....

and test the lights the beam pattern should look like this if not chances are you put the bulb in wrong and the 3 tabs are not correctly aligned if in any Doubt get the alignment checked by a Garage or MOT station last thing you want to do is blind oncoming motorists...







Now onto a bit of trouble shooting if you cant shift the plug

I had no problem with mine however having helped another member do his bulbs the mulitplug had a very secure grip on the bulbs contacts and wouldn't budge even when applying a high amount of force.

If your's wont budge dont yank it too hard the last thing you want is to snap the retaining hook for the sprung wire...

instead try this (ensure the lights are off as there is a chance of putting a short on the lighting circuit othewise).....

undo the spring clip this enables the bulb to come out slightly (however not very far)



insert a small flat screw driver into the gap and twist the driver slightly, then rotate the bulb and plug and insert the driver again in another location and twist, do it a couple of time then pull it off
