I've swapped cars with my Dad this week. And this is the week my car decides to die! Apparently water has got into the ECU and killed it.

So now I have to find out if it's worth repairing. No idea how much that is going to cost.

The car and my kids are in Middlesborough and I'm in Derby. So I've got to get them home somehow.

My car can't be fixed until middle of next week!

Arghhh!! This is going to wipe out all the money I've saved up this year.

Yes i din't know she was a girl from the first post. sucks animals cant tell us where it aches

Thanks

Sadly, results of the blood tests show her kidneys are failing, common with older cats. So she's not a happy cat. Back to vet on Tuesday for a few more tests, to determine how long she's got, and whether its worthwhile trying to help her live a little longer.

Funny little creatures, they demand a lot, on their terms, give little, but leave a big hole when they go.
She was a rescue cat, so you don't get long with them generally.

Thanks

Sorry to hear this PB. My older boy got a rescued dog soon after he got married and bought his own home. We think he had been badly abused - the dog that is - and he was a very nervous wee thing (he was a sort of terrier type nondescript). Over the years he calmed down a lot and came to realize non of us were going to hurt him but he never lost that "wariness". Funny the hole it leaves when they go though isn't it? "Lucky" developed growths which the vet told us weren't causing him distress but in the end something went wrong in his head and he very quickly, over about 24 hours, just curled up in a corner and quietly passed away.

I still find myself being careful when opening their front door in case he's lurking behind it ready to make a bid for "freedom" - I've chased him up the street more than once and he could really move! But having had his fun watching me toiling after him he'd happily stop and wait for me to catch up with him - I could swear I heard him laughing more than once! We all miss him sorely.

Thanks

Good luck to all of you , especially from my two rescue cats (often they rescue me from low mood -who rescues who? )

Our Seat Leon failed its MOT. Rusting sills. They look perfect as the stone chip and paint are still fully in tact. I guess I have to thank Kwik Fit for making us aware. Its 19th year will now be its last as this will be its final repair before being scrapped.

Mrs J dragged me, kicking and screaming, to Ikea this morning. Joined a queue which stretched along the front of store and up the side of the car park. I was all for going home but the price for rebellion was too great so I stood there, in the drizzle, until we finally got in. Lots of hand sanitizer and we dutifully wore our masks but, in my perception, too many people by far inside. Also people stopping to examine goods - what a revolutionary idea - causing localized backing up and bunching of the queue. Also some (elderly and disabled people mostly) who were moving very slowly -not in any way their fault, I'm elderly and not to fast on my toes, but it caused bunching up in the isles again. Also some going back against the flow to reexamine something they'd missed in passing - Then the check out! long and winding queue (at least 3 switchbacks) with many impatient to leave and ignoring safe distancing even though there are floor markings.

A couple of the items we wanted are on back order so a further visit will be needed to collect. I noticed "click and collect" bays in the car park so hoping I won't have to go into the store to collect.

Ikea:

If you go a few times you realise a few things..

Its laid out in zones.. you can 'duck through..' missing out all the junk you dont want to see..and the hold.ups you dont want to be in

Best bit.. decent food..reasonably priced
And free Coffee if youve got an Ikea card

When COVID-19 tests were really needed, NHS ignored private providers, preferring to set up it's own system. The disease followed a normal pandemic curve killing the vulnerable in line with infections and falling away as expected. We now have deaths and serious illness near enough zero, but because we are now finally doing the testing we are consequentially finding people with fragments of coronavirus. The NHS testing system is now available so they have to use it. Oh Yes!

This is a different perspective from USA. Last time I checked, they are also humans over there so it's likely UK is much the same.

The resident government panic supporter will be along to have go shortly.

Well, I survived! No great difference when compared to last time. Big car park queue, far too many people with many really paying no heed at all to social distancing. Makes me feel insecure and quite twitchy.

Unfortunately, despite the marked bays I'd noticed, click and collect seems to be unavailable. Our items (wardrobe and 2 chest of drawers for granddaughters bedroom makeover) were there but not in store, due to the virus you can't collect from the normal shelves. Instead you pay for the items at the till and then get in your car and drive to their warehouse up the road where you wait for some considerable time for them to find them and bring them out to you. I felt quite sorry for the warehouse workers who were obviously doing all their usual stuff and having to hand out all these customer collection items too. They looked very tired and overworked but, to their credit were polite and obviously trying to manage. I would say this system has not been thought through and is far from being "slick". In particular they are supposed to only allow 3 parties in the reception area and there is no weather protection outside - must have been around 8 parties (groups of people) standing in the pouring rain outside for as long as we were there. In fact they broke their own rules and let about double the number on their notices inside, but there were still a number waiting out in the cold and wet. This will be completely unacceptable in the winter weather.

Anyway, we are pretty much "sorted" and shouldn't need to return in the foreseeable future. By the way, agree with you about the food Charlie, which is plentiful and quite tasty. Free coffee as you say with the family card. My older boy likes the hot dogs they sell near the store exit. Didn't avail ourselves of it this time as you had to book a time for the sit down eats - couldn't just wander in.

Spotted the "cut throughs" some time ago but Mrs J likes to wander round all the displays whilst we are there so benefits me none.
