It's more the fact that recalls are pretty much voluntary. Yes it would be preferable if the car was right first time, but if it does have an issue it's preferable that the manufacturer takes steps to inform those affected and fix it free of charge. A lack of recalls is not indicator that a car is not riddled with design faults, it just means that if there are known faults the manufacturer has chosen not to recall the car to fix them.

very true,

if you want to put things into perspective, go on VOSA recalls site

look at the "quality" of SEAT / Skoda, ;)

then fiat

and to cheer yourself up ( whatever you drive):D

then look at the Peugeot 307:eek:

The New car still presenting problems

Might be needing a new gearbox soon(n) Jumps out of gear and whines a lot... Hopefully when the garage finished fixing the current warranty claim (Hopefully next week), I can get them to have a look at the new problems...

Never had such problems with the Punto  even if it does need a new floor pan  Still no luck finding a Good welder, most are automatic?! Don't trust an automatic welder so looking for what's regarded by the shops as an Old School unit?
Only want to be able to adjust the Heat/Current AND the Feed rate separately... Why is such a unit so different to locate in London??
Anyone any Ideas? EuroCarParts Sells one, but it's a "special order" so will take a few weeks?

Not sure i understand your reasoning there, i think i'd rather buy cars that don't keep needing to be recalled.

Recall a know fault and it gets repaired free of charge. Equals good service. Things go wrong, it could just be a couple of effected vehicles but they recall all of them to ensure no one's effects.

Other manufacturers only recall small amounts of vehicles and/or cover up faults

Fiats Mk2 Punto was renowned for having power steering faults, yet they continued to manufacturer the car like that, only recalling odd few cars, often still charging.

Toyota realised the Prius had brake faults, recalled EVERY prius and fixed it free.

Just because a manufacturer doesn't recall cars doesn't mean there's no faults.

At least some companies are more proactive.

My first experience of an electronic handbrake...what exactly is wrong with a handbrake? What did they ever do to anyone? Why did it need to die? Combine a an electronic handbrake with a laggy turbo diesel and and clutch that only works in the top inch of its travel and you have huge fun..

My first experience with one was awful too lets just say a vauxhall insignia nearly wiped out a brand new Peugeot RXH , brown trouser moment .

I have a feeling that you've had exactly the same experience as you being it was a citroen ds4 I tried it in and PSA share everything. I got the hang of eventually not helped by the clutch being so high it was disengaging the handbrake before I'd reached the bite point.

A suspected trail of derv and a corner. It was try and correct or possibly go off the road and down a ditch into some woods. I opted in that split second for the former and rolled it.

Ill say this. That panda kept me protected to the point I managed to crawl out pretty much injury free.

due to being 1 day short of covering a certain post. I lost out on £2K+ of bonus
I have just received a glut of emails(yes Im still working on the laptop after being at work from 4am) from my sector boss.
Basically refusing about 2 months of expenses claims.
So another £1k or so down.
Feeling mighty unappreciated right now.
